Hit rating problems... at level 14Follow

So out of boredom, I started a new rogue on horde side. So far its been fun to have to put up with having only a few abilities. I forgot about this 'gouge' thing! More than anything its been great for nostalgia's sake. gouge>bandage, gouge>flee etc.

Another thing I forgot. Its kind of hard! If I get adds, sometimes I can burn down one before fleeing but usually I just have to get out of the situation.

I've made it up to level 14 so far, and at 13 I died 1v1 against a nonelite zombie in the ghostlands that was only one level higher than me. That was embarassing. :( I've died like 4 times trying to kill the gnolls in ghostlands. *always* end up with another link one way or another.

Anyways, since then, I've been running recount to assess my combat stats, something I was never able to do the first time around.

The main thing I've noticed is my hit rating is *horrible* I don't have the data with me right now because I'm at work, but my white damage hit is around 50%. My sinister strikes around 70%. Now obviously this won't be a problem for too long~ I level out of levels at this stage pretty fast, but it sure seems like I'm missing more than I should right now. Is there some weird math at work here killing my damage?

Honestly, there really is nothing out of the ordinary with what's going on.

Obviously weapon skills will apply here, if they're not leveled up as high as possible you'll be missing more than you could. Another thing is that you really won't be able to find ANY hit rating on your gear for quite some time (it'll be rare that you do find a piece though, I think one of the heirloom items has hit rating if you're willing to spend the emblems).

Since you have a grand total of 5 talent points, you really can't get any of the talents that help your expertise or chance-to-hit like precision or weapon expertise, that and you'll be face-to-face with most mobs you fight meaning you have to deal with around 15% parry (supposedly), 5% dodge, 18% chance to miss (I think, might be 23% untalented), and other goodies like block (and that's just on mobs your level!)

Dual-wielding in itself hurts your chance to hit, so the numbers you're seeing are about right.

Some of those numbers are probably a bit off, if anyone cares to correct them please go right ahead.

No I think that's probably about right. I think back in the day when I leveled my 1st rogue I just didn't notice it, but now coming from a level 80 rogue where I have a bunch of hit rating, it really stands out. Also on my first rogue, being a human and using swords a lot, I probably actually did miss less.

When I get back to him, I'm going combat, so I'm going to pick up the accuracy talents. I just never realized that hit rating was so powerful at low level! :P Its literally cutting my damage in half.
