looking for some adviceFollow

Hey, I'm looking for some suggestions on why my dps is quite terrible. I've tried out mut and followed the guide on keeping Hfb x 3 and snd up at all times, but i was only doing around 1k dps. I went and tried combat and again followed the guide but my dps was only doing 1.1k. Is my gear just really that bad or am i missing something completely. Here's a link to my toon If anyone can offer some suggestions on what i can do to try and up my dps a bit, i mainly pvp but i'd like to do some heroics to get better gear. Just my 1.1k dps seems to put me below the tank. Thanks in advance

I pumped about 1.4K in your gear with a PvP spec, so I don't think it's your gear. Your (combat) spec could use some work, but you should definitely be above 1.1K with it. You could use some hit but you seem expertise capped, so that's not it either.

What mobs did you test on?

I've did Heroic VH as combat when i did 1.1k, when i was mut i did H-nexus and did 1k. I've messed around on training dummies and seem to do about 1.3k but i dont know why in intances its way lower. I know my spec isnt the greatest but i wanted some talents for when i'm pvp'ing.

You are combat daggers, your 1st problem. Make up your mind on your spec, it should be 15 51 5 or 7 51 13.
Even considering those, your dps is way too low, it is most likely your rotation that needs work. For that you can simply look up Rogue pocket guide at Elitist Jerks forum.

Well I was giving mut a try thats why i have daggers but my dps was too low, so i figured i'd give combat a try. I am following the rotation on EJ's forum, thats why I'm looking for suggestions on why its low still...

What i dont understand is on the training dummies and in vault of arch i can do 1500 dps. But in heroic instances doing the exact same thing i do 1k-1100.

That one is easy to explain. In Arch's vault you are raid buffed. In a 10-man that can easily mean 400 more DPS. In a 25-man it can differ up to 800 DPS.

Daggers combat is subpar spec in all regards, if you wanna use a dagger, put it in your off hand and equip fist in main hand, dagger in OH must be fast 1.5 or below speed. Such as Paper Cutter which can be gotten cheaply and easily from AH and it's practically best dagger for mut or combat offhand until Naxx 25.

Depending on buffs I am 3k+ dps on 10vault and 4200 or so in 25Vault. Buffs make a big difference, especially for rogues.

Aside from rotation and SnD downtime or lack of rupture uptime, others are right, your spec needs to be fleshed out more in either Assassination or Subtlety. I personally like Serrated Blades and so you should go 5/5 relentless strikes (No matter what spec you use) and drop the 3 from Ruthlessness and move them to Serrated Blades. Of course you can use 15 51 5 instead but make sure you get 5/5 Relentless Strikes.

Are you glyphed for Combat as well? Glyph of Sinister Strike, Rupture and Slice and Dice?

As mentioned in earlier posts as well, a decent fist (Greed from H CoT perhaps) and paper cutter are a great start. Or you can try going swords with the Wyrmrest Hold Oh (Fang of Truth, Honored) and the Knights of the Ebon Blade MH (Reaper of dark Souls, Revered). Either set is are solid dps pairs. Also mongooe them if you can get mats as that will help alot as well.

thx for all the replies, no clue why i thought dagger combat was supposed to be good. Did another heroic and pulled a whopping 1.1k dps in that spec. I went ahead and respec'd to full mut following the spec in the sticky. On the training dummy i'm doing around 1450k dps on it so that seems to be a nice improvement. Also ya i was using the glyphs for combat snd, ss and rupture. Guess i'll do this till i can get the fist from strat and enough badges for the other offhandn or something. Thx again for all the replies
