Gear changes, where to go...Follow

Hi!

First heres my Profile

I just recently picked up playing again after 6 months. I've read alot of posts here and have found much useful information, so thanks for being an informative forum!
I'm wondering how I should change my gear while leveling. I now have crafted epics and blues from TBC, what should I look for in gear that drops? As I understand Fel Armor now scales with spirit, so I should get some more of that. I've seen that blues now also have spirit included and not only stamina and intellect, so I guess I will get more spirit automatically.

My priority is hit > SP > Sta > haste(from now) > crit

I know hit isn't that important while leveling, so I guess I can drop some of that. What I'm really is ranting on about is when should I change out my epics and blues? I feel the greens I've seen doesn't make it worthwhile.

Granted I'm kind of in the same boat you are, but haven't really started working on my lock so my opinions are based off of my hunter who's almost to 80 and started in northrend in just the usual BC blues. I really didn't start replacing any of my gear minus my bow until mid 70's and even then it was a hit/miss type thing since a lot of the armor I was finding early on was lacking in a lot of the stats I wanted. SO my opinion is you should probably be good until probably 74ish before you really should start dropping your lovely crafted epics for the slightly depressing greens/blues that you'll pick up from quests and instances.

Plus don't forget that the armory is your friend and can point you in the right directions for some gear upgrades, but in reality with your very nicely done gear I wouldn't worry to much about it until 73-74 range and even then it will be maybe just a few points better as far as stamina/spell power goes. Plus keep in mind that any gear you get while grinding your way to 80 will always be replaced by your lvl 80 rep/raid gear so it's not a huge deal if you decide to hold onto your BC epics a little longer than some people think is best.

When WotLK came out, my lock was already 70, so I went straight to Northrend. Granted I'd never done many instances or raids prior to WotLK, so I didn't have much as far as epic gear, I started to replace gear with quest rewards or tailored items I made, as I went.

I'd just do quests, level and if you find something worth using, use it. Once you hit 80, you're likely to do 80 instances and raids and you'll most likely replace everything, once you start doing those.

You seem to already know what bonuses you want, so keep an eye out for those as you go.

hit > SP > haste > crit > spirit > Sta/Int

Locks are no longer the stamina whores we used to be, unless your pvp but from my understanding your screwed even with tons of stamina in pvp. Spirit is an added bonus to most gear and can tip the balance in close gear but it's not something you should stack by itself. The problem with most leveling gear is the itemization isn't that great, it'll be harder to replace the spellstrike set due to the fact that it has good hit, crit, and damage. Would Kilt of Deific Torment be better than Spellstrike Pants? you lose hit, but is the gain in other stats worth it? Tough choices.

Another thing to note, do not look at the gear color. It sucks losing the epic you worked so hard for but if a green has better stats for you choose the green.

Definitely drop Hit while leveling. Also, as far as Spi/Sta/Int go, for the most part, I never look at those stats. They just come on the gear with SP/Crit/Haste/Hit.

While leveling, look for SP/Haste/Crit, in that order. If you see a piece with a nice amount of hit on it, hold on to it and throw it in the bank for when you are 80. That's what I did anyway.

As for when to replace, well, I was in a mix of T4/5/Badge Loot, there were no real replacements for my gear until Dragonblight/Grizzly Hills, and then only a couple. Most of my upgrades didn't come until Instance rewards or Storm Peaks and Icecrown blue quest rewards. On my shaman though, who was in crafted epics and a few Kara drops, I saw some upgrades in Howling Fjord/Borean Tundra, though not huge upgrades.

All in all, the difference in gear is nowhere near what it was from Vanilla to TBC, Sunwell Epics are actually on par with Naxx Drops. So really, just don't worry about upgrades right away, you'll get them, just not right away.

Thanks for your answers, this will make it easier to sort out what I should change out and not.

I appreciate your effort!
