Binding heal or Flash healFollow

I was just wondering if you could use binding heal (low threat) instead of flash heal?

I realize that this cost more mana, but also cause less threat.

If I have enough mana would this be a possible way to heal?

You wont find threat an issue using flash heal. Binding heal is more expensive and has the added disadvantage of the fact that you can't cast it on yourself. You might think that doesn't matter but I've died before because I tried to heal myself with it and didn't realise my mistake in time.

To be honest, I don't see why you're viewing them as competing with each other. They're both very valuable tools in their own situations.

Binding Heal is great for a very specific use. I rarely if ever cast any other heal on myself (in a group, obviously). I can generally always find someone who's not topped off and use Binding Heal instead.

Flash Heal gets a lot more air time from me these days. With CoH and PoM crits, I get free ones left and right, for starters. With the glyph it's not as inefficient as it used to be, and I feel better about relying on it for DPS who've taken damage (that's what's replaced downranking) or the tank who needs healing a little faster than gheal's going to afford. Note that that's all from a Holy perspective. Disc relies much more heavily on Flash Heal.

In either case I'm not often that worried about healing threat. In most situations I'm not drawing threat more than Fade can handle or holding it longer than my Shield lasts.

I have a feeling that depends, though. I don't have a fast-cast Greater Heal as you might know, but I still find myself using it more than Flash Heal. You just have to time your stuff a little better.

That said however, Flash Heal is indeed a pretty nifty tool. My only problem with it is that it doesn't heal enough. A 3K heal feels kind of pointless when an avarage boss does that much damage on your tank.

Wow really, I'm the exact opposite. I do use Greater Heal occasionally but the vast majority of the time it's penance on the tank and flash heals to keep everyone else topped off with the occasional flash heal on the tank if they really need it between penances.
If the tank is taking really big damage a rotation of penance 2 flash's and a pw:s then back to penance tends to work very nicely, second round has PoM thrown in instead of pw:s.

In raids you can almost forget about fade. In heroics.. depends on the group, but you'll probably use it once or twice (more if tank sucks?).

But binding heal is becoming more and more useful in limited AoE situations. I even use it while healing the tank (on the tank ofc)

Binding heal is just perfect in certain situations, but constant overheal seems so wasteful.

While most of the time things go as predicted, accidents happen, so can you ever be sure you have enough mana? Minimal mana breaks by the healer means little rage loss for warrior/druid tanks and similar for other non-mana using classes.

Threat shouldn't be an issue now. For example the threat-reducing talent silent resolve was seen as essential, but many priests don't bother with it at all now.

Still an essential talent if you PuG a lot of instances/heroics... believe me... I wish it wasn't essential I really do, but damn some tanks are just bad...

Now I'm sad..

Yes, it is possible. No, you shouldn't do it.
