Just to be clear, this is not me QQing about holy palas. This is me QQing about others QQing about Holy Palas...

I know I shouldn't but I read the O boards from time to time and it just really annoys me the amount of QQ about Holy Palas and how they are weak healers etc....

AoE Healing - Beacon Tank, HL/FoL/HS the raid. Use Divine Illumination for burst healing.

Healing on the move - We have Holy Shock, if that crits we have an instant FoL or a 1-1.5 sec HL (depending on haste). There is no encounter in the game that completely prevents you from standing still for a second otherwise there is no dps either.

Do priests do it a little bit better? Of course they do. BUT, we can do it perfectly fine too.

There are some encounters that will favour one class over another. Maexenna, for example, is made for Druids. Loatheb is made for priests. Patchwerk is made for paladins.

To all the paladin healers that are whining about not being able to heal. Shut up and learn to play. We have everything we need, you just need to learn to use it.

I totally agree. Holynoobs stand still and still spam FoL like the old days. Real Holy Paladins make use of all of the fun new toys they have to play with and can be equal to or even superior to every other healer in the game when played correctly. Bohdi made a great post about this fairly recently and YJMark has made several in the recent past as well.

The changes to the game only made thing harder on the Holy Paladins who refuse to learn and adapt. The ones that roll with the changes and get really good at the new style of Paladin healing can easily compete with Priests, Druids, and Resto Shaman for raid healing. Sure some fights don't favor a Holy Paladin, but they are still quite manageable with one if the Paladin knows what he is doing.

Participating in Beta/PTR are the only good reasons to be on the O boards XD
(and Blizzard doesn't really listen anyway)

Idk what the fascination is with FoL, seeing 5 digit Holy Lights is what does it for me >_>

Because FoL is significantly more efficient where mana is concerned. So if you're still playing 2.4, or gearing yourself like it was still 2.4, you'll have OOM problems. The answers to OOM problems are: chain potting and FoL spamming. One of these is no longer available...

In the new world order, we have plenty of new toys - IoL improves our burst and mobility, SS gives us (instant-cast!) mitigation, glyph of HL adds a bit of AoE for free (well, no mana), and there is the wonder that is Bacon (albeit less of a wonder the larger the party/raid gets). And the mana costs of HS and even HL (libram and 4-piece t7) are more in line with FoL than their 2.4 versions.

Combine all this with the switch to short, sharp fights with active regen through DP as contrasted to the endurance marathons of BC. FoL is still a valuable tool, but only that - anyone who still thinks it's a way of life is living in the last expansion.

One word: plate.

I can tank a mob or two or even three if things fall apart in a 5-man. I can make myself invincible for 10 seconds straight under almost every circumstance. I have more health than you'll ever see on an equivalently geared priest or druid.

Can anyone say Judgement of Light? In regs I can at times cast JoL and sit back and watch the party stay alive without having to do anything else (good tank required).

Beacon of Light means I can heal two people for the price of one. I throw it on my tank before he goes into an encounter. Someone two people take an 8k spike... one holy light and they are both up. If I'm healing other party members I don't even have to watch the tanks health. Can a priest and druid do that?

We are THE pvp healer of S5, well us and Disc Priests. Sacred shield is so dramatically OP for PvP it makes Resto Druids in S3 seem fair and balanced.

For PvE, well if you are terrible and playing with a pre-3.0 mindset then you are trash and you shouldn't fix a class purely to accomodate for broken healers. Blessing of Sac 30% less damage for 12seconds on a tank during burst. Sacred Shield in PvE is nice as well. Nearly endless mana, the ability to raid heal while doing primary healing with Beacon on a tank. Holyshock hitting for 6-8k crits and proccing instant cast spells making for truly clutch heals.

Former guild officer went off to join a top 50 US guild and we talk sometimes, he says paladins can't keep up on meters and that they only bring 1 holy pally per raid. 1 holy seems fine, however I am pushing CoH priests and Resto Druids on heals but I have been doing that since before Sunwell Plateau began the trivialization of pallies. Also been doing it after /wink.

The basic statement once dropped by a wise wise Mod in Blue still stands, Lrn2play.
