Just hit 41 on my new Ret pally. Could someone please help me with a few talent points here and there. I think I have done pretty good, but I'm sure I can switch a few of em for max dps.

Thanks a ton.

Need points in Conviction and Vengeance. 5% crit and 9% added damage are too good to pass up.

Take the points out of Imp Ret aura and Deflection and start dropping them into those two. IMO Imp Ret aura is something of a raider's talent that only really adds up in 25mans. Deflection is ok but both Deflection and Benediction are filler talents that you only require to get to the next tier of talents. Max one out not both.

I agree. Do NOT max out both Benediction and Deflection. 5% Parry is meh for a Ret Pally, but Benediction is pretty meh for a Ret Pally as well, so just pick one or the other (I would lean SLIGHTLY toward benediction, but that is a personal opinion) and then use those other 5 points to get further down the tree to the skills that add damage and crit. Every time you get a skill point, look for skills that increase your damage or crit, or take a new core talent when it becomes available (crusader strike, divine storm). Once you get divine storm and max out your damage/crit abilities, you should take 5 points in divine strenght from the prot tree. It is getting buffed in the upcoming patch to yield a total of 15% strength for 5 talent points, and that is just too good to pass up once you have your core Ret skills maxxed.

After getting the 5 points in Divine Strength, you can then go back to the Ret tree and add other talents for flavor.

The Ret Sticky should give you a pretty good idea of the builds you should be using for PvE and PvP.

For now, I would get rid of deflection (saving 2 points) and get rid of Imp. Ret Aura (saving 2 points) and I would get rid of Vindication (at least for the present) saving another 2 points.

With these 6 points, I would personally max Heart of the Crusader to 3/3 and get 5/5 Conviction. After that your next 3 points should go into Vengeance.

Generally, while levelling up, take the major talents and the talents that add damage and crit first so that you become a killing machine as fast as possible, then add the other talents later on.

Yes, looking at your new level 41 spec compared to the old one, you should like the results much better. The big jump in Crit% should be quite noticeable, and the overall amount of damage you are doing should go up a lot on average.

Overall, it should make it much easier for you to complete quests in a timely manner and keep getting to those next levels.

One other comment that I have is that a lot of your gear has +Int on it. This isn't a BAD thing, since it does give you a bigger mana pool, but even if you had a bit smaller mana pool, it probably wouldn't be much of an issue. You may want to look at trading out some of your "of the Gorilla" equipment for "of the Bear equipment" or even "of the Tiger". Intellect isn't horrible, but at your level you should be looking primarily for Str, Agil, and Stam, probably in that order of importance.

Enjoy!
