Hey Guys, Just dinged lvl 74 and I'm getting upgrades as I go to make it easier to tank instances level and such. I just put on a bunch of Saronite gear which is really boosted me up. I'm looking at all my gear and the main thing i'm missing is trinkets and I still have the Nagrand Ring weapon. I've looked on Ah, cruised loot tables and cant seem to find a decent tank weapon.
Are there any weapons I should search for within the next level or two?

Quest in Zul'Drak to kill Ragemane. You may need to be level 75 to get the quest, but it can be solo'd with relative ease at 77. Might want to bring along a healer or some extra dps at 75.

Quest in Zul'Drak to kill Ragemane. You may need to be level 75 to get the quest, but it can be solo'd with relative ease at 77. Might want to bring along a healer or some extra dps at 75.
Agreed. The http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=44734;source=live from the Ragemane's Flipper quest at 75 is simple to get. After that there are several other quests that provide good tanking weapons. The intermediate goal once you hit 80 is to get the sword from Ymirron in Heroic Utgarde Pinnacle which is just plain tasty and will rival some of the weapons in Naxx.
If you are over the defense cap at 80 by a decent amount you can just get a http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=41383;source=live from a blacksmith which isnt a defensive weapon but is tremendous for dps/tps.

Question though, For a Protadin, whats better faster or slower weapons? Faster with lower max dmg or slower with a much higher max dmg?

It used to be said that faster is better because you could get Seal of Vengeance debuffs stacked on your target more readily. Now it doesn't matter as much since it stacks on every hit.
Hammer of Righteousness deals damaged based on the damage done by your weapon, so a higher-damage weapon is more desireable.
My current weapon at 80 is http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=37179;source=live which is an OK weapon but a bit slow.
I have been trying to upgrade to http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=37401;source=live but UP is a much harder dungeon than UK on heroic, so in the 3 times I have cleared H UP so far, the Red Sword hasn't dropped for me yet. It has a great combination of speed, stats, and damage.
I kinda figured that it didnt realy matter. It would matter maybe if I were going more for DPS but Hate generation wise I just wanted to make sure. Yeah my next step is getting the one from the Wanted quest in ZD, I was looking at the Heroic Drops in UK and there was another decent sword I coudl get prior to getting the H UP version. Looking back - I didn't get much from my weapon until I got to 80. Even at 80, most of the weapons you get are just a hold over until you get your 1H in H. UP.
My advice is to get an easy to obtain wep. off the AH that has nice STA or STR and then forget about it. At 80, you can complete the questline in Ice Crown that will give you a nice tanking sword, or do the one that was mentioned above and get that one. I did the IC quest line because it yields a lot of gold and it's pretty interesting.
I knew it going into TBC, I knew it going into WotLK, but still, I focused on pre-70/80 gear. Really - your choice of weapon won't alter your ability to do regular instances. Being the best 77 Tank on the server isn't really a goal to strive for.

I've been using a Titansteel Bonecrusher as my tanking weapon of choice for 2-3 weeks now. It has no defense rating, dodge, parry, etc. on it, but it produces the same HotR damage as the Red Sword of Courage and was easy to get. Now I'm holding out for a Naxx drop...pretty much anything that drops in Naxx10 will be on par with the weapon damage of RSoC, and anything in Naxx25 will be a bit of a boost. Important to note, however, is that using the Titansteel Bonecrusher does impact my avoidance. If I were using a "true" tanking weapon, I'd be block capped now. We get a little flexibility with our tanking weapons in WotLK which is very nice.
