A Sword + Combat buildFollow

#1 Jan 06 2009 at 10:13 PM Rating: Decent
Hello,

I have a rogue and I was wondering if this build would be good for him since I don't like the unreliability of Ambush and any other stealth skills:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?tal=32500010505010000000000000002503501002550151231005210000000000000000000000000000000

Please, give me your opinion, thanks.

  • Remorseless Attacks is crap.
  • Vigor is useless because you won't be pooling energy as Combat.
  • Cold Blood is wasted on a build that is designed not to function on crits (although with the SS glyph, this isn't as true as it used to be pre-3.0).
  • Riposte is good for leveling, but useless in any group or raid situation.
  • Lightning Reflexes is a waste of five points.
  • 1/2 in Weapon Expertise is covered in failsauce. 2/2 or bust.
  • Unfair Advantage is... meh?

I believe that this is what you're looking for.

The problem I have with that spec is how do you control killing spree and why not buff up eviscerate and then put cold blood in because you've got all the buffs for SS and Eviscerate along with the extra sword pumps.

nm, I see by putting in the RS and Ruthlessness you get the added combo points but I still dont get why you got rid of Unfair Advantage?

Demea posted a raiding build, UA is useless for raiding.

You have 2 posts requesting info on sword builds, but neither say what the build would be for (raiding, pvp, leveling, etc). That would help.

omg, insomnia sucks =(

You don't buff up Eviscerate because you don't use Eviscerate in raiding, you use SnD/Rupture. Although you mean end up with s 5s/5r/5e rotation, but its still not worth buffing Eviscerate, especially since you are losing Prey on the Weak which is a good chunk of DPS for you.

Is there a way to spec so that you could just go straight dmg?
I was thinking that the big dmg from the swords and the extra swings would do good for more combo points and a faster eviscerate dealing more dmg overall. The build I would like could go raid I guess but I want to be able to hold my own IF horde does come.

If I can't do swords would this dagger build work?

Endgame you spec for PvE and PvP separately. Demea's build was a solid PvE raiding build.

Not sure what you intended to mean by "...straight damage..." but the posted build looks like optimal combat swords for raiding far as I can tell.

There's also the very first post in the forum at which you might wanna take a gander. =/

edit: the mutilate build you posted is confused. Check the sticky, first post in the forum.

I want to maximize the dmg I do as much as possible. That's what I mean by a straight dmg build

The sticky has two optimal raiding builds (one for combat, one for mutilate) and there are several PvP builds in the threads.

Thanks for the tip (obviously i'm new to this sort of stuff)
One Last question: what the heck would you use the hunger for blood ability for? Yah, its good for getting back energy IF you have a bleed and for more dmg but then I could just go Find weakness and then murder. And your going to die anyways so why not just go for vigor instead?

HfB is a fundamental talent for Mutilate builds. Straight up 9% damage increase. The other stuff is non-important.

Seriously, read the sticky, most of your questions will be answered in there. =)
