Some group problems with shamanFollow

#1 Jan 06 2009 at 9:59 PM Rating: Sub-Default
Alright so every now and a again I actually find a group for such low level instances (Mara, ST, BRD etc) so heres the issue I've been having. Obviously I'm a shaman so I'm leveling DPS. And so is every paladin, druid, and priest. The problem lies in who is going to heal, and who is going to DPS? Obviously my DPS can't be touched by a ret pally or a shadow priest. At least at this level. So why am I being argued with when I suggest that it would be stupid for me to heal?

I mean a shadow priest or a ret paladin won't necessarily be good at healing, but why sacrifice the awesome DPS an enhancement shaman is putting out? Heres an example of what I had to deal with last night. I entered a ST group with 2 priests, a paladin, and a warrior. All DPS spec'd. At first it was suggested that I tank. I nearly left the group right away because a shaman tank sounds insane. Heres the first thing I heard.

"Are you a tank or healer?"
"Who me?"
"yeah."
"I'm a shaman numbnuts."

But some of you are asking "But shamans are healers too." Yeah shamans have healing abilities, but first and foremost, they are DPS. Don't act surprised if a shaman or a druid isn't a healer. So don't expect them to be. Also if you roll a DPS spec'd priest, warrior, or paladin, get used to tanking or healing. And also don't argue with someone who has rolled all of the above and know the DPS output of each at that level.

Part of being a good group is knowing your role and filling that spot the best you can. If its up for debate whos going to be better at what, don't leave the group because you rolled a healing/tanking class and expected to DPS. Gtanted the group failed miserably. Anyways what are some thoughts on this?

God I hate hypocrites. Go roll a rogue.

I always see a failure to elaborate when someone has a negative comment. Back it up if you feel you have a point.

And as far as the hypocrite comment? Please explain how that comment was in any way subjective to my post? Click on the armory links and look at the specs and gear. Yeah that's right. Tank and healer. Not trying to pass them off as DPS. So therefore the retarded post referring me as a hypocrite (not that I expect the poster to actually know what hypocrite means) holds no credibility.

I rolled a warrior and priest long before my shaman and guess what? I gladly tanked and healed every instance. I leveled prot (warrior) and holy (priest) because a) I find more challenging to be more fun b) I know the difference between a DPS spec and a DPS class and c) Clearing the instance successfully is first and foremost the most important goal in any group. And for some reason, instances seem to go much smoother and much faster when I have actual DPS rather than imitated.

Not knocking those who like the spec. But if someone is better at it and you're needed elsewhere, don't *****. Just do it. And since when were shamans tanks? I keep having people ask me if I can tank. I made a shaman on a PvE server to fill DPS spots in raids/5 mans. I already have a tank. Already have a healer. I wanted a DPS. And its aggravating when I join a group with 3 potential healers and 2 potential tanks, and they want the one with the most DPS (and probably the worst choice for tank) to either tank or heal. If no one else could possibly heal, I'd be ok with healing. Because I just want to clear the instance and move along.

  • If your group really expected you to tank, I can understand you having an issue with that; however, shamans are a healing class as well as a dps class. I do not understand your insistence that you should not be asked to heal.

You are playing a hybrid class that can heal. You are saying that other hybrid classes should heal yet you are totally unwilling to do so yourself. That makes you a hypocrite. Are you able to grasp this now? Probably not.

I'm leveling as Enhancement (which is only one of two possible dps/leveling speccs) and yet I heal pretty much every instance I'm in. Why? Because the class is good at it, and it's not bloody Sunwell... Don't get retarded and refuse to heal, just embrace the fact that your class is made for that just as much as it's made for braining people with big onehanded axes.

Words fail me when I see any Hybrid refuse to heal. The only possible excuse I can think of would be that the only Healing gear gathered would be about 40 levels outdated, which again makes you a bloody ******. Half the quests you do will give rewards that benefit healing, without providing gear for dps. This means that unless you vendored it like a fucking smacktard, you've got healing gear. This also means you'll make this group a success instead of a limping, ******** and moaning little gimp that won't make it past the second boss without disbanding.

Don't be a ******. Heal when asked to.
