Reckoning!!!Follow

Heres the rub.. On boss fights you don't need it but on trash I find myself needing it due to the healer not being able to keep up so I'm needing light and wis or due to not taking much dmg so I'm needing wis and wis. I'd like to hear everyonese comments on this. Also is it absolutely neccesary to be specced into Seals of the pure for raiding? To be honest DPS doesn't touch me without it if I'm not asleep. Here's the thing I only OT'd Obsidium and MT'd Kara with a seals of the pure spec.. I had some mana issues in Kara, maybe even with reckoning I would have?

If you're not taking enough damage on trash, pull more trash. Either you'll take enough extra damage to get mana returns from heals, or you'll get more blocks/dodges/parries for BoSanc procs. If you're taking more damage than the healers can stay on top of, someone is undergeared or playing poorly. I don't judge Light for health returns...I judge Light for threat. The minor health boost is just an added bonus.

Reckoning doesn't proc often enough to be a reliable source for extra judgement procs. It's too random...you can't count on it. I'm specced 4/5 Reckoning because I had some points to spare after I took what I felt I absolutely needed. In heroics and raids, the only people who pull mobs off of me are other tanks who taunt and dps who start too early with the AoE.

Slight tangent, i'e heard light's healing threat is going away in the next patch because it hoses ret.

I'm only in heroics, but I'm running some lower Reg. instances with guildies for fun and some easy rep.

I'm finding the same thing in some instances. So - Take a seat. Just eat a crit or two. Hit X and sit down every once in a while.

Or - Pull more trash.

Make absolutely sure that you are using BoSanc on yourself and keeping holy shield up at all times on trash. Pull as much trash as you can handle. Every block, parry, or dodge by you will regenerate your mana just fine. If you are in Kara and actually bother to have a healer with you, chain-pull massive amounts of trash. If you are 80 or anywhere near it, you have to have a massive group of trash on you to even touch you enough to cause BoSanc to regenerate your mana.

If you are running with Kings instead of BoSanc that is part of the problem. The stats from Kings are nice, but the mana from BoSanc is better, especially if you aren't taking a lot of damage anyway.

I agree with all of the above but also want to add:

If you can't find a way to keep mana regen up on trash after using BoSanc, hitting Diving Plea every cooldown, Arcane Torrent every cooldown (if you're Horde), using pots (duhhhh.. they're there for a reason. Paladins used to be the only tanks that absolutly couldn't afford to use Healing Pots because we had to spam mana pots -- healing pots are garbage anyway, so down mana pots unless you need special effect pots), and sitting down to eat crits....

Then don't worry about it. Stop and drink after every pull. Really. There can't possibly be a problem with threat -- I know I can put enough threat on a pack of trash in the first 8-10 seconds of combat to hold 4-6 things until they die. More if they're undead. The only problem I can see is ending combat without much mana. 5-10 seconds to drink all the time is nothing. You can still clear Heroic UK in less than half an hour. Boo hoo if you can't chain pull through Naxx because you have to stop and drink sometimes. Mana regen is only a real problem when it effects our ability to continue to put out enough threat to hold aggro, and against trash -- the only way that anyone can rival you for threat is if they're putting up HUGE numbers, in which case the mob should be dead and it's a non-issue. Small numbers? Then threat doesn't matter to begin with.

I watched for how often it procs and it's not proccing much at the moment for me. I think benediction had a lot more to do with how much mana i was using that reckonning does.
