Sapphiron troubles.Follow

#1 Jan 06 2009 at 8:27 AM Rating: Decent
Heya, I'm quite new to posting, but I've been lurking around these forums for a long time already.

I'll get to the points immediatly; namely my problems with Sapphiron.

I'm an Undead Holy Priest http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Chromaggus&n=Exorga
You'll probably see me on the Armory without Inner Fire up, so my spellpower in reality is a bit higher.

I can succesfully heal all fights in Naxxramas (Normal mode) but I have some serious mana issues at the Sapphiron encounter. I use my cooldowns early, so I can use them for a second time later in the fight. (This means shadowfiend, my spirit trinket, Hymn of Hope and Inner Focus)

I'm ALWAYS running out of mana on this encounter, around 40% of the boss' hp even. Our raid setup is most of times like this : Protection Paladin (MT), Feral Druid (OT), Blood DK (51/13/7), Frostfire bolt Mage, Affliction Warlock, Fury Warrior, Frost/Unholy DK (howling blast spec), Enhancement Shaman, Me (holy priest) and a Holy paladin.

On Sapphiron, I mostly use Circle of healing on the caster group and Prayer of Mending at the melee group. There must be something that is wrong because I can't believe I run OOM so quick there, since I easily heal all other encounters in Naxxramas (Normal).

Oh, and I'm using the Dispell magic glyph, the Power word: shield glyph and the Flash Heal glyph

Any hints / tips?

PS : Sorry for my bad english, it isn't my native language.

Edit : God, my sig is outdated, forgive me for that.

Your mana pool is somewhat low. For disc priests, 23K is not a bad aim. For holy, I think you'll want 19 or 20K. Aside from that, you seem alright to me statwise. Using ProM and CoH should be alright as well...

I'm thinking your DPS aren't avoiding avoidable damage? Maybe they're being hit by AOE, or people aren't dispelling?

Well, as you can see, I'm holy, but I didn't really look at my mana pool. I thought spirit stacking was still the general idea? Should I socket for int then?

Hmm, I don't dare to give definite advice on that as I'm not completely sure; spirit is still nice, even more so as holy, but it's just that I think you're about 2K lower on mana than where you should be when compared to spirit and spellpower. I think you ought to take a look at the damage being taken before changes your entire gear first, anyway.

Mmmhh, I think the dps isn't taking a whole lot of AOE damage..

Could the problem be that I'm practically solohealing it with 75% healing done and 15% overheal?

Here's the paladin's armory : http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Chromaggus&n=Grusmus

Or am I just pointing fingers? ^^

Thanks for the input so far!

Edit : The healing done isn't that fair to look into I guess, with all the AoE heals I'm throwing around.

Well yes, that's probably it. That paladin is just about Naxx-ready and shouldn't be healing Sapphiron. And, are you running with just 2 healers? Then your companion is definitely your problem. Make no mistake, he's not awfully geared, but I think it's too low for 2-man healing Sapph

Yeah your mana pool is a little low. The other thing you need to consider is how much you are casting circle of healing. In sapph it can either be your best spell (behind the ice cubes) or very weak (due to spreading). You need to pom whenever its up on this one, its easily your best heal for it. If it still turns out you're using circle of healing a lot you might consider getting some points in mental agility and not going quite so heavy on the holy talents. It might be a nice stopgap measure until the coh changes come in or your mana pool improves.

Okey, I'll try to use CoH at the icecube phase only, and try to use PoM more often, thanks for the input all!
I might also socket for some int, but I don't know for sure.

you could try using this gems:
Seer's Forest Emerald (blue/yellow)
Luminous Monarch Topaz (red/yellow)
Intricate Forest Emerald (yellow/blue)
(or the lower quality/same stats if you don't have gold/jc friends)

They both give you intellect, along with spirit and spell power. I also think your spell power is a little overkill. You may need to lower it to get other useful stats. For example, Luminous Monarch Topaz gives +9 Spell Power and +8 Intellect. You would lose 5 spell power, but gain 8 intellect.
