How Useless Will I Soon Be as a Sub Rogue?Follow

Noob here!!! Up to L47 and thoroughly enjoying myself. However, I bet I am going to have a problem soon and, sadly, it doesn't seem negotiable. Maybe you can help.

I am drawn to the rogue because of the sneakiness and, more importantly, the escapability as well as our ability to tackle tasks alone that maybe others wouldn't be able to. I am not much of an RPG fan in the first place, but this is appealing to me. However, from reading a couple of forums, it appears I am going to be utterly useless - and unwanted - as I get more into the high 60's and so on.

I get the point; I am headed for a pure PvP rogue (I suppose I will be 10/0/51) and if you ask me if I like PVP, I'll say yes. I will also answer "yes" to, "Do you want to be a part of raids?" And, likewise, I will answer yes if you asked if I like questing and just running around doing ****.

Basically, are full-on sub rogues useless for anything beyond killing the opposing faction? Will I, ironically, caddy-cornered myself to do nothing but things by myself? The only way I'd ever relent from being a sub rogue is if I got this one to the level cap and then created another one - using sub the whole way - until I respec everything when I hit the level cap ... using that one to join raids and what not.

Thanks for your help and forgive me if this sounds stupid.

My two cents.

Sub rogues historically have semi painted themselves into a PVP corner. That said, I've met plenty of sub spec'd rogues that ran 5 man heroics and even Kara regularly.

If you are trying to squeeze every ounce of DPS out of your character because you are in a high end raiding guild, then speccing sub will pose to be a problem. Fortunately, decent rogue class leaders will tell you what they are looking for spec/gear/enchant wise if you are interested in a raid spot.

If your not in a raiding guild, I wouldn't worry about it. You have a long way to go before you even hit 80. Spec what makes you happy, and worry about changing to a raiding spec when the time comes. What's viable for a raid spec today may not be viable for raiding by the time you hit 80 anyway.

Good to know. Right now, I am not in a raiding guild, but just a general one, so it is not a problem. I will stop worrying for now.

That, basically. Even though shadow priests should be able to heal everything up to at least level 60 (if not 80), it's very common to get a "ur shadow? sorry we need healer" in your face if you join a group as a healer. That said, I don't think anybody will ever give you a "ur sub? sorry we need DPS" outside of raids.
