Hey all,

I recently switched from Affliction to Destruction so I been working on changing my gear to better fit the new spec.

What I been thinking about doing it taking some of my hit gems and replacing it with either SD or Crit. (Not sure what the better alternative would be). Curious to know what feedback more experience Destro locks can provide me. Also if there is any gear that is non-raid aquired (faction based / emblem bought) that I could purchase to see gains please let me know.

Always appricate the time and effort,

Yabi

well hit is your most important stat, so dont loose any. also never gem for crit, complete waste of time for a yellow slot, haste is always better. in terms of gear... no idea, install the wowhead mod and start looking through badge vendors/rep factions/'pugable' raid bosses (VoA, sartharion)

Jenov,

Currently my hit rating is 387 without talent, I was under the impression all I need is 368. If this is the case I then wouldn't it make sense to replace some of my hit gems with other gems, keeping the hit at 368?

indeed (i'll admit i didn't check your armory and just presumed you weren't hit capped yet) 368 is the hit cap with 3% talented OR 3% debuff on the boss, though presuming you have both, the cap is 289 instead. and ya, you should re-gem, but to haste, not crit

Since I have a solid number for hit, is there any solid numbers for Haste / SD / Crit that should be my goal?

Also, I was always under the assumption that in order of priority it's Hit > SD > CRIT > Haste. By your conversation I am assuming the priority is Hit > Haste > SD > Crit, or do I have this all mixed up?

Thanks for your time.

you got the haste and crit mixed up, it's hit > SP > Haste > crit. theoretically crit and haste both provide an equal dps increase as in an infinite duration fight, presuming you have infinite mana and the ruin talent, 1% crit will equal a 1% increase in total damage done and same for haste. BUT in reality no fight is infinite, in which case haste is a larger dps increase as its a passive increase in rate of damage done compared to an increase in the chance to deal increased damage.
