importance of stats?Follow

#1 Jan 03 2009 at 11:52 PM Rating: Decent
I know this is probably really noobish of me, but what is the order of stats importance for rogues? I know agi is stressed more than str, but what about stam compared to agi? And when I get to higher levels, where does attack power and hit and expertise and critical strike rating and all those other important stats I can't think of atm fall? Thanks

Probably one of the best reference posts for rogue mechanics out there.

Mutilate Stat weights

Stat EP
Str 1.1
Agi 2.0
Crit 1.6
Exp 2.0
Haste 1.5
ArPen 1.1
MH DPS 4.1
OH DPS 3.1

Hit is worth about 2.2 below the yellow hit cap, 1.6 below the poison hit cap, and 1.3 above both caps.
For weapon speeds, each .1 increase in MH speed is around 35 EP and each .1 increase of OH speed
is around 75 EP.

Combat Stat Weights

Stat EP
Str 1.1
Agi 2.0
Crit 1.5
Exp 1.6
Haste 1.4
ArPen 1.2

Hit is about 1.8 below the yellow hit cap, 1.6 below the poison hit cap, and 1.4 thereafter.

Isn't there a mod for such a thing? I recall one called *something*buster, which automatically adds up all those values into a single number, after which you just compared the numbers the mod gives.

Yea, RatingBuster is nice, it converts everything into a nice little summary under the item.

I.E my Fools Trial says:

Fools Trial
Soulbound
Neck
+38 Agility(+.46% Crit, +.92% Dodge)
+55 Stamina
Requires Level 80
Equip: Improves Critical Strike Rating by 43(+.94%)
Equip: Improves Hit Rating by 28(+.85%)
Equip: Improves Attack Power by 112

Stat Summary:
Health 550(+0)
Attack Power 150(+0)
Hit Chance .85%(+0)
Crit Chance1.39%(+0)

The +0s show you how much the of a difference there is with the highlighted item, compared to what you have equiped. Since I have Fool's Trial Equiped it shows 0 difference.

You can use Pawn ... does exactly what you want .. you feed the above scales into it (better yet, grab the specifically formatted scales from Shadowpanther.net), and it converts all the different stats into one number (using the MAEP or AEP scales accordingly).

As for ratingbuster, that's really cool to convert numbers (like x crit rating) into actual, usable percentages. It's nice in that (as in the example above), you can see how much overall stats the item gives you. For example, AP is derived from Agi, AP, and even Str. If an item has all 3 of these stats, ratingbuster will collate and summarise the total AP the item will give you.

Over and above that, it will tell you what the different in the end result is compared to what you have equipped. So if you know and are experienced enough to determine that an item which gives you +20AP, and +10exp, but -0.4% crit and -0.5% hit is an upgrade or not, then RatingBuster is all you'll need, as that's what it'll tell you.

Pawn, however, will tally up all the numbers, covert them to AEP and let you see which number is higher ... ultimately, the item with the higher number gives you an overall increase in DPS.

I use them both in conjunction with each other, simply because my scales in pawn only applying points for DPS values, and ignoring stamina in a solo environment is short sighted. I would never take something that gave me an MAEP equivalent of and extra 15 points, when I'd lose 400 health for example. Bottom line is that I use them both as a guideline, and make a decision from there.

I suppose I could use the PvP values, as those are a mixture of damage and survivability, which should translate pretty well into a solo environment.

Anyway, bottom line, if you enjoy this techie theoretical numbers sub-game, get both Pawn and RatingBuster ... while you're at it, get DrDamage as well ... and you'll have lotsa fun ... without even actually drawing your knives in anger :-D
