I've been working hard last few weeks to build up a good tanking set, using the guides on here, and some common sense.

I am not done yet, but I wanted opinions, since my guild is getting antsy to start heroics and they keep asking me and I keep telling them that I'm not comfortable that I'm ready yet.

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Moon+Guard&n=Hirai

Some things I am already aware of:

1). Some pieces of gear are not enchanted yet. I am aware of this, and I am going to change that soon.
2). I am working towards my Titansteel Tempered Helmet and then the Titansteel Bonecrusher afterwards.
3). My trinkets suck. I'm thinking of asking for Karazhan runs to help with that.
4). The Libram, I keep telling myself, I'm gonna go and get the one out of Grizzly Hills... I'll do it soon.
5). The talents need work, I know. I just threw that spec together one night they wanted me to tank (I had been Ret previously). I'll likely respec soon.
6). Glyphs, I'm going to change those very soon as well. I've just been busy with farming Blacksmithing mats and recovering from buying my epic flyer.

Otherwise...

How close am I to the recommended stats for heroic dungeons? Am I at least headed in the right direction? Anything else I should know about/change, that I did not list above?

And any suggestions concerning Talents would be nice, I haven't been able to find a "recommended" talent tree anywhere, so I've just been guessing at it.

I'd say you are good to go for Uk and Nexus at least..
Your stats are almost excatly where I was when I first started heroics..

Assuming your healer/dps is up to it,you should be fine through both of those (just avoid the smash ;) )

And,get some rep going for a head enchant...thats +30 stamina quick and easy ;)

P.S Maintankadin has some good reading imo,if you havent been there I recommend it..

Edit; just noticed your talents...personally I would recommend 2 points in Judgements of the Just asap.. -20% attack speed on bosses does help quite a bit..Benediction and Conviction you can live without.

One thing that I see quite a bit of it people who rely extensively on the Tempered Saronite/Daunting combo. The most important Tempered Saronite pieces are the Shoulders and Belt, the rest can usually be neglected because there are better helms available through quests, better chests from both quests and rep vendors, and better bracers in regular instances. Though they are excellent supplement pieces, I've never felt that using lots of Tempered Saronite was meant to be heroic ready. More... well geared for any regular instance.

Don't stress too much about the Libram. They don't really make a big difference until the Libram of Obstruction, but you can't get that until you're in heroics anyway. Definitly look into trinkets. The Seal of the Pantheon is an excellent regular instance trinket. There really isn't any reason to go back to Kara for them though. If you REALLY want to, you can solo Moroes (skip Attuman unless you want a chance at getting Midnight) and try to get his pocketwatch.... but it won't matter that much. Tanks are somewhat limited in early trinkets in Wrath unless they are Jewelcrafters or Alchemists, in which case they have some awesome options available.

A few options available in regular instances beside the trinket include the Silver-Plated Battlechest from a quest in Pinnacle, Svala's Bloodied Shackles off of the first boss in Pinnacle, and Gal'darash's Signet from Gundrak. Also, The Crusader's Resolution from an Icecrown quest wouldn't hurt if you havn't already chosen a reward from there -- but if you're working on the Titansteel helm that might be moot.

Your talents are a little sloppy. Benediction especially, Conviction somewhat. Skipping Judgements of the Just is a mistake imo, as is taking Kings if you aren't prepared to give it all 5 points. I'm sure you're still experimenting there.

You're on a good track. Certainly not where you can blow through any heroic mass AoEing, but you can likely handle some with smart groups.

I agree to the above posts. If you want go ahead and check the first link in my sig. That's my Paladin's Armory, Prot atm, for an idea of a good tanking build.

I'd also say try for UK and Nexus and see how you do. I think your health is a little low, but as pointed out if you have a decent healer, you should probably be fine in those 2 Heroics. VH isn't bad either, depending on which bosses you get at least (everyone has trouble with that voidwalker boss it seems ...).

Yeah, the lack of HP is most likely due to unenchanted items, which I do intend to remedy once I am set on my Heroic-ready gear set (which I am still working on).

And solo Moroes...

Can I _really_ solo him? Jeebus. AND his Adds?

He used to be a 10-man boss... *blinks*

Before we started raiding (I was the first in the guild to 80 by about an hour and a half.. took a few days before we had a 10 man group ready and a couple more days for a 25) I got bored and hit up Kara. You can definitly solo Attuman, Moroes, Maiden, and Opera (Oz at least, I don't imagine R&J being difficult -- Wolf might be tough unless you can resist the poly.. dunno, havn't looked into it). I've heared stories of people soloing Nightbane.

If you think about it, the traditional way of tanking Moroes @ 70 when you had a Protection Paladin was to take all 5 of them at once, since as soon as you got stunned you'd get hit by an add -- the stun would break -- and Moroes would return to you. You are block capped against all of the adds (block capped vs. level 72s? Yes...) but not against Moroes since he acts like an 83 (unless you happen to actually be Block Capped, but you aren't yet) so you can basically consider the adds to do 0 damage to you since they can't land an actual hit. So you need to Judgement/Seal of Light through Moroes' auto-attack and DoT. With LoH and Bubble (which knocks the DoT off of you I think) Mind you, you can instantly stun everyone with Holy Wrath and the adds fall fast to level 80 Prot DPSing. Yea, it's pretty basic.

Getting the Libram from the Hunting lodge (Whatever it's called In grizz Hills is cheap and easy. If you faction holds it - you can buy them for next to nothing in rep. It will add damage to your holy shield - Someone smarter than me will have to tell you if that's better than your current libram.
