Couple questions, I'm getting my pally up to 80

Grid/clique, I'll probably set this up soon. Do healers use this kind of setup in PVP too? Currently I keybind my heals, and use my mouse to target unit frames and its pretty fast, but I see how clique would be amazing in PVE, but in PVP it seems theres so much movement.

K mp5 is bad, I had a few gems because my old offset from 70 had a bunch of blue sockets. I'm a JC so I was just cutting crap to generally match sockets and blues I was stuffing with mp5 like a nub. If a socket bonus is worth grabbing and theres a blue socket, I'm guessing you'd go with the green crit/stam gems then?

Also OP don't feel bad, that tank was utter trash. Maybe he had the gear, maybe he didn't, but gear can't save a tank who has no idea how to play. Their main job is to keep adds of you (healer) and the DPS. He utterly failed at that, completely his fault just forget that run ever happened and don't let it affect your own confidence.

I don't use lots of addons, just the basic raiding ones, nothing like the healbot ones that tell you what to do next

Just for the record, healbot doesn't "tell you what to do next".

Basically healbot creates a box with hp and mp bars in for each player which are a lot easier to quickly tell how much health people have than with the default Blizzard unit frames. You can then set it up so various combinations of mouse clicks and key modifiers cast various spells when you click a person's bar, e.g. FoL on left button, HL on right button, holy shock on middle button, then maybe DI on CNTRL middle, LoH on CNTRL right, hand of protection on CNTRL left, etc.

What you might be thinking of is smartcast which is a feature of healbot that "intelligently" decides which spell to cast, including downsizing spells to lower tiers. It's a useless feature which was only designed to work out of combat anyway and anyone sensible turns it off.

Ok, I might have to take a gander at Healbot, just to see what it's like. I did give Gride and clique a try and just could not get into the set up of it. Yes, I understand the basic concept of Clique, and if I functioned more off my mouse clicks, I could see where it's invaluable. But I tend to hot key my spells and go from there, I did "clique" my DI and a couple things but that's it. Grid...I just give up on, I just personally prefer the easier function and set up of X-perl. I have added a combat text file and really like that, keeps me from getting completely focused on the HP/MP bars.

And just so you guys know, based on all the advice/information you have given, I saved a friend of mine from a BAD Nexus run, he was mentioning that they wiped a few times, so I asked for the tanks name, checked his armory...and told my friend to RUUUUUUN. The tank was not defense capped, nor close to it even for his lower lvl, and his hp was very low, basically he was not ready to tank nexus.

I have since my original post, run Naxx a few times and up'd my stats quite a bit, getting a much better feel for the new skills and spells. Even in running a H-UP last night, I have noticed my mana is regenning and maintaining much better, hardly any down time to drink. Granted a Prot pally tank helps. I've gotten a new cloak and hesitated on getting it enchanted with Haste, as I feel mine is sufficent w/o it but should I anyway? I wish there were better cloak enchats.

Mikelolol-from what I've learned on here, I'd go with "crit" over stam if your Holy. Until I actually needed a Meta gem i didn't stress about matching sockets, also I personally try not to use the "blended" gems but straight Sp/INT/Crit.

Well check out my armory if ya feel like any, feed back is always appreciated.

As Bodh said up above, Grid takes some getting used to. I like it because it gives me a visual of the group in one compact area, and I love it because it puts up an icon on anyone who is hit with a debuff. Also, it is easily customized to do so only with debuffs you can cleanse.

Using clique I bound my cleanse to shift-left mouse button and I wind up dispelling twice as much as the next closest person. There are a couple of very dangerous debuffs, including those that reduce the tank's swing time and thereby the tank's TPS. And it is super easy to add any boss spell so it shows up with an icon, like Kel'thuzad's Frost Blast which deals 104% of the target's maximum HP over 4 seconds - so even if that person is topped off they die without a heal within that 4 seconds.

But the bottom line is you need to use what you personally are comfortable with or you will wind up not using it - yeah that makes sense. I mean if you don't like what you've installed, you won't use it and it will be no better than having nothing installed.

Whatever you use, you can find some good information in the Elitist Jerks' add-on thread, or simply ask your question here. No healing add-on has a monopoly on this board.

I can't speak to PvP, but if keybinding works better for you due to PvP experience, adapting to a raid environment with what you know is a good bet to work out better than learning an entirely new skillset that you only use in raids. For me, it works better to keybind my offensive/defensive/utility abilities and heal/cleanse with unit frames. So my method of play is the same in soloing, 5-man, and raid content - the major difference is where I focus my attention.

As for mp5, it's not bad - my gear is top-5 for pre-25 man content and rawr still puts it right with Int as far and away the best two stats point for point - it's just horribly itemized, since you get twice as much value by gemming/enchanting for literally any other useful stat... Even so, the two blues that I have to have to activate my meta are both +int/+mp5 greens (N.B. - of course, I'm stacking int so YMMV).
