GO ON, try and dis-prove the spec. I pushed out 5k dps with it on my last patchwerk and prior to changing to this spec i had 3 less gear upgrades and the old spec, for which i managed 4.3k dps. now i'm not gonna get a 700dps increase from 3 items. here are some the reason why the spec works so well:
1. imp does more damage than felhound in general, so specing into the decreased cast time and increase in its damage is worthwhile. the decreased cast time works out as a 20% dps increase to the pet.
2. everything else is the same as the rest of the previous spec.
3. the only better spec is this version of
53/1/17 if you're at the 14% hit cap (presuming 3% debuff, or 17% hit cap without debuffs) in which you have felconcentration for a slight personal dps increase due to less push-back issues and then the 6% increase in SB and haunt damage from after you crit.
sinstralis, I'm surprised you're challenging me when it comes to warlocks, haven't I proved my knowledge enough over the past few years? in terms of 'no.1 dps' i'm going by currently available gear levels. come uldar and some of the already known destro changes, destro could beat it with the right balance of stats.. but that's just it.. it needs a specific balance. afliction simply does insane damage right now and i've yet to find someone who can beat me beyond being massively outgeared (which is becoming less and less likely). give me a few more weeks and i should have near perfect gear and 5.5k dps would be more than easy.
also finally, i'm not doing the "zomg it's my spec so must be top dps", i'm going by months of testing different specs + others testing it + theorycrafting and trust me, this one is simply beating all the others in maximum achievable dps (yes there will be certain fights where different specs are more viable, but on average, and in the 'perfect scenario... which patchwerk is pretty much, this spec comes out top.)
