What addons?Follow

Hey guys, I just decided to invest my time into a Shaman for a change from my other toons and would like to know which addons are preferred for use.
I've decided to go Enhancement for now and maybe Resto a lot further down the track.
But for now damage is what I'am going to try and accumulate.
I have a 80 Mage and Lock and I'am still in the learning process of my Shaman at level 10 but I'am a bit of an addon junkie so would like to maximise the best info out of him by using the best addons preferred.
Thanks.

If you want to get into PvP early on then LW and skinning are good choices. If you just want to make money then mining and JCing. If you want to raid alot then herbs and alchy.

Thanks mate, I'am PVE only but was thinking more of what software addons to install and not so much which trades to look at.
Stuff like DBM, Omen, Xperl and Bartender plus FuBar I already use but I'am after more Shaman specific addons than general ones.
Stuff like addons for timers, totems, etc.
Thanks again for the reply though :)

Apperently I was tired as hell when I read your first post. Have no idea what I thought :P

I use a assload of addons but most of them are to save up screen space. Ones that I use for my shamman only are:

FloTotemBar - Just makes four separate bars, one for each class of totem. The totem you have dropped at the time is highlighted and there's a little bar counter on the side of each bar letting you know how long you have left on that totem.

Grid - I'm not a big fan of healbot. I used it all through 3.0 and up through lvling to 80. When I started raiding again I went back to grid and click to cast. If set up right (and I'm sure you can do all this too on healbot, just wasn't comfortable with it), you can have the little boxes fade in and out when they are in healing range, let you know who has agro, and let you know if a person has a disease or poison on them. It's small and takes up little screen space as well.

Parrot - While I use MSCT on all my other toons, I like parrots combat text on my sham a little better. Rather then having your damage taken and healing dealt scroll in a designated spot on the screen, it instead pops up above a targets head. This way I can see who got all 4 of my chain heals.

EavesDrop - Pretty much a on screen combat log. Little window with incomming on the left and outgoing on the right. Great to see who you healed and for how much and with what spell, as well as seeing just how hard Saph hit you when you screwed up.

Quartz - So i can put cast bars wherever the hell I want.

HealAssign - great for setting up healers in a raid and letting everyone know who they are healing.

Buffalo - With all the buffs going around now days as well as debuffs you need to keep a eye on (thadius), this addon is great for putting your buffs/debuffs where ever you want them.

Everything else is pretty much normal addons. I use PitBull for UFs, Fubar, Bartender4 for bars, BigWigs boss mods, Omen, Prat for chatframs, simpleMiniMap, eePanels, Recount, and a few other small ones.

Keep in mind that more addons = lower performance. I have a great computer to be able to run all of these and I'm still turning down settings in a 25 man raid on some boss fights.

Thanks mate lol thats what I was looking for :)
I'll go and grab them now.
My Mage is my main and I use a ton of addons for her and I'am very comfortable with what they do and how to use them but for my Shammy its all still very new, especially going from Alliance to Horde this time around, so the more help I can get the better.
I've also grabbed Ankh cooldown timer, Shock and Awe, Yata and Totem Caddy but havent fired them up yet, I'll grab the ones you mentioned and put them all in together and see how we go.
Thanks again mate for taking the time to reply, really appreciate the help.

Ya man, no problem. Keep in mind though that I'm fully resto. I know there's some that have to do with windfury timers and whatnot, may want to look into them.

Grid and click to cast are also not needed if you decide to go enh fully since you won't be needing to keep a eye on the raid all that much. Although having some sort of raid frames that let you know when a person has a poison or disease is always good.

I sort of gathered you were Resto :)
I've gone Enhancement for now to level quicker and I'am enjoying it a lot but when Blizz bring out the talent/spec changer I'll look more into Resto then.
I think its more of a raid spec thing but as I'am only new to the class I'am stil on the steep learning curve.
So I'll grab the non Resto addons and see how we go.
Thanks again.
