healing speedFollow

#1 Dec 27 2008 at 8:16 PM Rating: Default
I need to be able to be quicker with my heals. Im using healerbuttons UI right now but dont like its raid mode. We basicly have 8 healing spells I use. rejuv,lifebloom, Regrowth ,swiftmend, nourish, healing touch,wildgrowth, tranqulity. tried healbot but was moving my cursur back and forth across the screen between changing players and casting spells. Im not good at using buttons on my keyboard.i get flustered during the crazy times which isnt making me a good healer. Im thinking of using a key binder mouse to help out and wonder what you guys were using. right now i use 4 healer buttons each with left and right click being differnt spells so i have 4 buttons attached to each players picture that i go back and forth with my cursur . im level 80 with 16k health 15k mana 1400 spell and 600 mp5 with pots and food. It just seems that Im letting the groups fail way more then Im happy with. I know part of the problem is im pugging it but I think maybe im not cut out to be a healer. any help would be most appreciated.

Drop the Ritalin?

Seriously, if you try to heal the same way you type - without taking a breath and dividing your efforts into paragraphs, I'm not surprised.

Try Clique if you want to click-heal.

If you can't move your cursor 2 inches in the span of a global cooldown on any of those spells... Lay off the downers.

Or just get xperl so the whole raid is neatly put into one spot so you can just click and use your 1-10 keyboard keybindings.

I use Click Heal with the X-Perl Unit frames.

leftclick = lifebloom
rightclick = rejuv
thumb button = healingtouch
alt leftclick = regrowth
alt rightclick = nourish
alt thumb button = wild regrowth

1 = natures swiftness (then just use my regular heals above - I should really make this into a proper NS HT macro)
2 = swiftmend (casts on the current target which is usually the tank I am healing)
3 = Innervate (alt-press for me, or just press to innervate my current target)
4 = ???
5 = Tranquility

Works well for me. There are a few things I should fix like click binding swiftmend and fixing my HT macro, but I am usually feral, so I haven't really needed to yet.

Friar RareBeast what kind of mouse are you using? I hate to admit I'm still using a standard mouse and wonder how much better my play wuld be with a gaming mouse. I'm also looking to get a gaming keyboard.

For addons I have grid right now, and from what I here Clique is the way to go for the heals. I still need to try it out so I can't say for sure.

I was wondering about a 5 button mouse. For some reason only 2 of the 4 on my trackball http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=383572&CatId=540
work, i'll have to look into that.

I probably use the simplest form of grid. I have all 5 party members in a vertical line next to my unit frame just below center of the screen. I click on a unit and use 1-7 to cast a spell. With the units being less than an inch away from each other and using keybinds I have no problems at all targeting another char and clicking on them before the GCD is up from my last cast. If you're using a trackball that could be part of the problem; I know I wouldn't use one in a game where I needed to move quickly.

Keep a stack of lifebloom on the tank at all times as well as rejuv and regrowth. Nourish if the tank gets lower than about half. WG if 2 people get hit with AoE, otherwise just slap them with a rejuv/lb/rg. I only use tranq if things go very bad and to give myself a bit of breathing room. Barkskin is useful for this if there is AoE damage to avoid losing ticks.

I tend to save swiftmend as a mini panic button for someone other than the tank or on boss fights. I rarely use healing touch except with the instant cast talent.

Honestly healing as a druid seems to be pretty boring in 5 man instances with few exceptions. If your DPS is taking damage you need to find out why. Something I think is useful is that I have the target of party members turned on and if kill targets are marked (they should be) then it's easy to see who is picking the wrong target to kill. At a glance I can see if everyone has the skull targeted, if not then that's possibly a problem (CC classes and the healer may briefly target another mob). When you get the 3 DPS all going after their own mob then healing is very difficult but that's not your fault, it is your idiot party members.

What is the 4 button? An instant win button or a profit button?

I NEED TO KNOW

I use Clique with similar bindings, and it makes a huge difference in reaction speed, esp. with decurses and cleanses. One thing though - drove me up a wall to not be able to click on a party member's frame to target them or right click to trade/whatever, so I have everything on shift+x and ctrl+x. For me:

Shift+left click: Wild Growth
Shift+right click: Regrowth
Shift+middle click: Nourish (very rarely used, I use Regrowth)
Shift+4th mouse button: Rejuv
Shift+5th: Lifebloom
Ctrl+left click: Abolish Poison
Ctrl+right click: Remove Curse
Ctrl+4th mouse button: Swiftmend
Ctrl+5th: NS+HT

I have target set to ctrl-leftclick & the right click menu set to ctrl-rightclick

I also have :-

alt-shift leftclick = MotW
alt-shift rightclick = Thorns

ctrl-shift leftclick = GotW

Shift leftclick = decurse
Shift rightclick = depoison

My mouse is a Logitech G7 wireless mouse (from memory) but there are plenty of mouses (mice??) available with a thumb button.
