Is that all they do in the end?Follow

I am just about to start World of Warcraft off and was wondering if someone could help me out with Warriors and what they do in the end.

I was told by people that Warriors are only good for tanking in end game content. Is that true? I know that they can DPS but are they accepted readily into a group just as any other DPS class?

Thanks very much.

yes warriors are very good dps, if played (spec/gear/skill rotation) right, they will dominate the dps charts no problem, although they are very gear dependant.

So does this mean I will be wanted in a group as much as a say Rouge or Mage?

Yes and no really. Rogues and mages aren't that wanted at all because they're so incredibly common. It's healers and tanks people are always looking for; which in this case means prot/tank specced warriors, not DPS warriors.

So yes, you'll be as wanted as rogues and mages, but no, that's not something to be happy with since they aren't all that wanted. On the other hand, you won't be *shunned*, and there are still less DPS warriors around than rogues.

atm there is a shear abundance of tanks on the 3 servers I play on. I was in a WSG with 6 tank specced players.
Evert guild is recruiting everything except tanks, so using this there is a much betetr chance of getting a group if you are DPS than tank atm.
The biggest hurdle and always will be is getting a good healer, as the guys that play healer classes but chose to DPS have either failed utterly at healing or are just lazy(I know this is a bit of a generalisation, many DPS are infact very good at their job, but A LOT follow the previous examples.)

I have a warrior friend who topped the recount meter in a heroic Naxx run at 4600 dps. He's been playing since vanilla WoW and knows his class. His gear is good but by no means zomfg epix. Warriors can tank or dps at end game...it just depends on how you spec and gear.

DPS warriors are currently the highest melee dps in the game. They are accepted, often even welcomed.

I get invited to tank and dps all the time. However most invites assume I can tank(which is the case).

i got very bored of titans grip very quickly.
I has around 3.6k AP, 26% crit, 390 hit and practiced my rotation for a while, but still find tanking a lot more fun and I seem to hit harder and do moer damage as prot...in the last 3 days I havnt been out dps'd be a rogue, DK, warrior or pally.

I love the buffs warrior got in the LK, makes them so fun for tanking.
I am yet to try out 2handed arms, i reckon it looks a bit more fun than TG.

i am fury warrior and rock titans grip. I think its SWEET. only lvl 66 so havnt been able to end game yet , but being more of an "action" type game fan i think it helps keep the pace moving. FUn to just run up on mobs and lay waste to em :) Just my 2 cents but i like it.

You may have done low damage, as sounds indicated, because you've WAY over itemized the hit. Drop about 160 or so for other stats, crit and STR if possible, and I guarantee you'll see better results. In my offset I'm pushing about 2.6-2.8k as TG atm. All of the warriors who seem baffled by these numbers looking at my gear seem to have a common trait...they overvalue hit.

having 390-ish hit only just got me hit capped with precision (11% from hit rating + 3 from talents) so dropping +hit would infact hinder me further.

I'd like to hear from some people who have seen Fury/TG and Arms side by side. In the small number of runs next to a fury warrior, sub-80, my arms warrior out DPS'd the fury guy every time, and I was probably out-geared or even in each of the runs.

Unfortunately, my small sample size hasn't allowed me to form a solid opinion yet. Has anyone seen enough side by side comparisons to determine that TG is really the way to go? Most of the posts I've seen have been more about hyperbole than actual facts. Just curious how the numbers crunch.

You're either overgeared or running with terrible rogue's and DK's. I can easily outdps prot warriors on both my rogue and DK. Can't say much for pallys because I don't really know them or run with them enough.

No, really, I promise. You have WAY too much hit. You're not trying to cap out your white attacks here. Drop hit for more beneficial stats, you will improve. You're gimping rampage and flurry uptime, bloodsurge procs, and your attacks are probably hitting significanly lower than they should be because of your lack of AP. I don't have my exact stats on hand, but self-buffed I'm at about 4.3-4k AP, 38% crit, and only 220ish hit. I regularly put out in the 2.6-2.8k range in 10s. This isn't amazing damage, but it doesn't suck, considering it's off-set gear and I'm still using blue weapons.

Corb's Fury Guide on tankspot if you want a resource for it.

hmm i swear during TBC the specials cap was 9% not 8%, baring that in mind I am 1% over hit capped for specials, then when the Hit penatly is removed il be way over capped.

I done VoA on wednesday and managed 2.8k dps, but still seem to miss an awful lot with whites meaning no specials. Saying that, there are fights where I seem to NEVER miss giving me infinite rage, so I guess it all comes down to the luck of the draw and how the game feels like ******** you over.

I havnt gone out of my way to aquire hit, its just come on the gear iv picked up while tanking and taken for offspec, not a lot of the dps gear I have has sockets so i cant gem to Str/crit atm....I realy should stop doing heroics with other warriors/pallies and death knubs.

I was out dps'd for the 1st time by a pally and rogue the other day, in a timed COT run, they were pushing 2.3k, yes there is a lot of AOE in strat so not realy valid dps, but still they were crazy

Yep, hit cap on yellow seems to have changed in the expansion. It WAS 9% in BC, but myself and others have done our own testing and come to find the cap has been pushed back to 8%. Whether this is intentional or a bug I'm not aware of, but the math is there. It's honestly nothing major, but it definitely isn't a bad thing.

I think the number I've seen bandied about is ~8.2%. Keep in mind that's for raid bosses though. If you're just hitting Heroics, you only need ~5%+ hit to cap specials, which is trivial to get with Precision.
