Rogue PvE helpFollow

ok, so I just started playing wow about 2 months ago and I am just doing PvE so I can the hang of things first. I am up to lvl 70 and have the x-pack, but have not gotten to playing it yet. I have spent much time leveling and very little time running instances. I plan on just straight leveling till 80 and then raiding and instances. Anyways, my main question is with that goal, is there something that I am doing that is really hurting my character or something that I can do to better my dps. Anyways, here is my character as of now. Please look at my current weapons (2 daggers) and my telent build and tell me if there is something I can do to better my toon. Thanks for all the help, I am just pretty new to wow and do not have too much experience with how to max my damage and whatnot.

thanks again

A few tips:
-try to replace the +str items. Str only gives 1ap to rogues, but is valued as 2ap on the item level. For example, you can easily replace that cloak with one from a quest in Nagrand "Bring me that egg", or something like that.
-about the talents, when you get to 80 (or whenever you start instancing) you should focus on more DPS: Replace Imp. Poisons, Deadened nerves and Remorseless attacks with something like Puncturing Wounds, Focused attacks and Imp.Slice&Dice.
-and another small tip: try instancing early, to get to the hang of it. You might just make bad rep about yourself if you join 80 raids and don't know what to do.

On top of what rofl said about doing instances. It will also help you level faster and improve your gear/rep with different factions. When you hit 80 your not going to be able to just jump into Naxx with greens on. Unless your in some sick guild that will carry you through it. Besides, its nice to instance and get away from the grind of just questing all of the time.

You need some nothrend gear, and quick. Don't enchant anything, just start questing in Northrend. And Rofl is right, I'd start running instances stat, you'll make an *** of yourself at 80. You need to understand your roll in every situation, rather that be crowd control (although this is unlikely anymore with ranged pally saps and shammy sheeps), pure dps, kicking heals, picking up adds on bosses and protecting healers if needed.

The quests in Northrend will give you decent starting gear, but to build a good set to start running heroics, you'll need some instance blues.

My suggestion for a level 70 Mutilate build. Wound Poison on both weapons while soloing. Hunger for Blood and Cut to the Chase are raiding talents and completely wasted on soloing (I also wouldn't bother with them for regular instances pre-80).

Get faster daggers. As noted above, the Northend quests should fix that and your other gearing problems for ya. Given two weapons of the same DPS, take the faster one. I don't bother enchanting anything while leveling, but if you're rich as Rockefeller then it's up to you.

Start instancing right away. Totally agree. Think of it this way: If you want to be good at anything, you need to practice. 5-toon instances are the place to practice for raiding. Ask your guildies for advice and groups. If there is another rogue talk to them (but be sure to verify any advice, not everyone has ideal information). For gear the priority list is Expertise > Hit > Agi > other. Also, don't gem for Stam. Gem sockets can have any color gem in them regardless of the socket color and most socket bonuses are too small to bother with.

Finally, read up. There is a ton of great information out there for the class. Rogues are, arguably, the most theorycrafted class out there. Which makes it a bit easier on new players to the class as the ground work is already laid. As always take anything you read on the interwebs with a grain of salt and try to find verification for any advice you get. Even this.

Good luck out there =)

WOW, thanks for all that great advice. I really appreciate all of it. After reading all your tips, I still have one question. Even if I have a healer and I am taking on a 3 person elite, or if I am questing solo, I still find that at times, I really, really needed just about 1000-2000 more health just so that things are not getting too hairy. From the advice given, stam should be one of the last things that I worry about. How does that factor in, or should I just really depend on having a decent healer when one is needed? Also, I am still at my relatives for the holidays, so I will not be able to hit Northrend for about 2 more days. Anyways, I have been looking at entry level quests that give daggers that almost double my current dps..so I will go for that first and then try for some expertise items...then hit the entry lvl instances. Again, thanks for all the help and the suggestions. I was really surprised by the responses...great community. :p

Cheap Shot -> combo point builder -> Kidney Shot -> Profit

I especially like kidneyshot cause you can just wail on 'em for hours while you just keep building combo points and repeating the process. (Therion said that Eviscerate is not a good raiding ability in my threads and I'm having a hard time trying to figure out why......)

Because other finishers do more damage.

It's mitigated by armor, Envenom is not.

Not to mention that Envenom does about twice as much dmg as eviscerate.
