Hey all. I'm starting Warlock. I'm just going to make him a twink for now, since they're getting rid of twinks in one of the upcoming patches by adding EXP to BG's. When that happens i'll most likely take him all the way to 80, but for now I want to know how to best gear him. I know that I should more or less stack stamina, which is no problem.

What i'm wondering is (And I read the stickys and a good number of posts on this page)

How do you increase DoT damage? Is there a way? I put on a few pieces of Spellpower and didn't notice anything. Thanks!

Your PVP gear will be obsolete until you are either 70 or 80. There's not much of a point to do what you are suggesting, other than to farm honor for when you reach those levels.
Are you only going to PVP, or do you want to do other stuff, too?

There's almost no hit gear at lower levels, so try to get Suppression and Cataclysm if you want to do more damage (3 in Affliction, and 8 in Destruction; dont bother with Improved Shadowbolt).
What you are asking does not really make sense, because we have to assume you want to play a certain way, and you have not really told us much other than you want to be obsolete for a time.
Warlocks always should stack intellect and stamina. Those are your main stats, more so than other casters, because we get our mana from our health, not from regeneration. Other than that, I really do not know how you like to play, so I cant tell you which tree is best.

Dot damage is increased by +spell damage gear. It's harder to tell when your dot gets a boost as it's spread out over the whole dot. Lets forget co-efficients and say you pick up a piece of gear with +24 spell damage so this would add 24 extra damage to your curse of agony. However you would only see an extra 2 damage for each tick(12 ticks over 24 seconds) which does not seem noticeable. Compare that to a shadowbolt where you'd be able to recognize an extra 24 damage easier. Then once you start adding co-efficients to spells it gets alot trickier. This spell gets 75% bonus from spell power wile this one gets 115%.

You mentioned you were going to make a twink, depending on what level I would suggest stacking stamina. It's alot harder to stack spell power before you hit outlands, and if you do find a good amount of spellpower on an item the other stats are usually bad.
