I was wondering, how would you make a macro to lay down a totem, cast lightning bolt twice, and then a shock?
You wouldn't. You can only use multiple actions/abilities in a macro if they do not trigger the global cooldown--totems, LB, and shocks all do.
You could, however, set a macro so that when you left click on a button it drops a totem, middle click for lightning bolt, and right click for a shock.

Actually, you can use a cast sequence macro. That would be such a horrible macro though that there's really no point in making it.
