Hi, I am a first time poster but i have been a lurker here on allah forums for a while and maybe now i'll be more active, but mostly I come here to learn new tips and hints.
This is not intended to be a "which is better" question, I know BM has higher dps overall.
Is it beneficial to have one MM hunter w/ the 10% AP raid buff? Also i have silencing shot for the mobs who heal. On heroic 5 man bosses, i have no trouble with mana and can put out 2200+ dps and my volley damage is off the charts. However on the bosses w/ a couple mil HP, I do run out of mana and have to switch to viper for a bit to regain the mana, and this can effect my dps and lower it to about 1800. However is my buff good enough to stay with MM as long as there is only one marksman in the raid? Im not the type that I need a big ego and be top DPS, I want to do what will help the group the most. Also, Im still on a learning curve in raids as I haven't done many, so any tips to help the mana last longer is appreciated. My current rotation is I start w/ MD on tank, Arcane/aimed/serpent/chimera/steady shot and kinda go from there.

Another thing I have considered is I know they are going to nerf some of the hunter abilities soon, but when that time comes I will have to compare the two specs. Thanks for your time.

Edit: Can't wait for duel spec, perhaps it will be viable to spec BM if I am with mostly casters, but MM if there are a lot of melee/BM hunters?

From my research, most 25man raids look for at least one MM for the buff. Yes you lose a lil DPS compared to BM, but if you could calculate all the DPS added to others in group on account of your buff it evens out.

play what you like best. raids are going to appreciate that you know how to play your class more than whether your specific dps# is as high as it would be if you went BM

pull your weight and not a wipe and the raid will be happy with you

yesterday I switched to a BM spec, targeted a raid boss target dummy and barely broke 1500 self buffed, so I learned I definitely suck at BM spec and would have to learn it to get my #'s up. On same dummy, i would do 1900-2000 as MM. Finally did first 25 man raids last night (Obsidian Sanctum and 2 full wings of Naxx + Patchwerk. On bosses that there is a lot of moving around, switching targets etc I would pull 1900-2100 dps, on the bosses that it was all out dps race (the guy w/ 20m health and patchwerk, yes I suck with names but know the fights) I was pulling 2800+ so I definitely proved to myself that I'm much better at marksman and totally lost with Beast mastery. Since i was top 7 in all fights and #1 overall (including the AoE on trash mobs, yes volley is OP) I am staying with marks until duel spec is released and I can take the time to learn the tools at my disposal that way without switching back and forth. Besides, I enjoy marksman more and that will be the spec I try to raid in 75% of the time.
