Newb Shaman QuestionFollow

I thought about taking a break from my other classes and rolling a shaman for fun, my only questions are, should I make it Tauren or Orc (I go a lot for just sheer aesthetics, i.e. which look better?) and also what spec should I level it as?

I would say roll an Orc, but I am biased...
Orc's racial Blood Fury is a nice boost to damage every 2 minutes.
Tauren's War Stomp is good for interrupting casters when Earth Shock is on cooldown, though.
Other than that... I say Orcs look better.

For leveling... Everyone here will most likely tell you enhancement is the way to go. Some have leveled to 80 as elemental, and others as resto. But enhancement is easiest by far.

Hope it helps.

I prefer Tauren. They do look better- orcs look ok though. And I think in a recent patch they changed how far back you can pull the camera (can anyone verify this?). It used to be real hard seeing past a tauren in "human" houses (or undead houses that used to be human). So they had real camera issues. And playing in 1st person is not an option. It can still be tough targetting gnomes or other small creatures attacking you, but it's doable.

If you are rolling healer troll racials may be best. But it's not that significant enough to really matter. Orc/tauren racials are good for enhancement.

I think orcs are hawt. Some people prefer tauren, a few even like the look of trolls. If the choice is purely based on looks, it's pretty silly to ask other people what you would like best--only you can know that.

For leveling, go Enhancement if you want to melee and Elemental if you prefer a spellcasting role. Resto is generally not recommended for leveling, though with the addition of spellpower I'd guess it's a lot less painful now than when I did it.

Tab key does not discriminate.

I went through a similar thing and I would recommend tauren, purely for warstomp.

While levelling, the ability to stun up to 8 mobs standing around you and then quickly hit a Lesser heal without interruption is priceless. Its also handy in instances on trash as a damage mitigator.

Ofcourse if you are serious about raiding etc, orc or troll would have better dps potential.

All three look good in gear. :)

I am at the same situation, I went with Troll just for the fun of being different (a little bit)

Which looks better to me? Neither one. I prefer Trolls when it comes to aesthetics.

Only you can say which race looks better to you and that's the one you should go with. If you make a character that you don't like the looks of, you probably aren't going to want to play it much.

Leveling enhancement is easiest in my opinion but then I'm lousy at leveling casters so your feelings on it may differ.
