Simple Question on Hit RatingFollow

#1 Dec 22 2008 at 12:37 AM Rating: Default
It seems since I've started playing in WotLK that a lot of the gear choices I get are asking me to drop my hit for armor penetration, so my question is.

Am I supposed to head that direction with my gear build and what other stats should I be changing and/or looking at now being that haste, expertise, and other rare stats post WotLK are showing up more commonly now?

Thank you all much for any info.

It would have helped to say what spec you are...

But...read the sticky.

Stat Weights for Combat:
ArPen-1.2
Hit-1.8 below 132, 1.6 below 315, 1.4 above 315

Stat Weights for Mutilate:
ArPen-1.0
Hit-2.2 below 132, 1.8 below 315, 1.3 above 315

So...does that answer your question?

Sorry been wanting to respond but couldn't log in. I did read the faq and all i could see in it was about expertise so i decided to ask in the forum.

I am combat spec'd and with 190 hit atm. I guess my real question is are they fazing out hit for armor pen, and with more armor pen will i get more hits?

Or am i just mixed up and they have no bearing over each other?

No, they aren't. Hit is still a very important stat, especially for combat builds but with our classes' dependence on auto-attack (aka "White Damage") it's vital to have a good amount of Hit to put out reliably decent damage (in PvE/soloing/etc).

The post I linked has the mechanics behind your question and you should take another look at it. Knowing "how" something works is far better than just learning some numbers to achieve. =)

Heck, if nothing else, Moo posted stat weights in a post in this thread! Use them to get a rough (very rough) idea of what's an upgrade and what isn't.

Cheers.
