Tanking Weapon Enchant?Follow

I got the tanking staff from 25 man Naxx(from Grobulus) last night,Origin of Nightmares
I was doing a lot of looking and was really wondering if there is a better enchant for a bear tank other than the old +35 Agil? I looked for a while and have not seen anything other than +attack power(ok in a pinch for tanks i guess, but not high on the ol' priority list). Is there truely not an upgraded version of the old chant yet, have I simply overlooked it, or is there a different route to go enchant wise?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

P.S. If you want to have a gander at my toon, he's in the sig.

Mongoose .

Get it for tanking. The proc rate is based off your slow attack speed. You blast an instant every GCD. I haven't done mine yet but I have heard the proc is all most always up.

If not the goose then yes good old +35 Agility. They are putting in a +75ish Stamina chant soonish I have heard which could be valid also depending on specific gear needs.

edit: links are fun

I've had the goose for about a week.

It is like I enchanted my weapon with sex.

No, goose is still +120 at 80. I checked one time shortly after getting the chant done.

I want a new WotLK tanking enchant but that is a pipe dream for now. The +xx stamina would be nice if it was cheap and I could have gotten it a good while ago but I am trying to build avoidance now not stam.

I was just poking around MMOChampion, when I caught this.

There is a bunch of new important things here, it also seems that Enchant Weapon - Titanguard has been removed from the patch (it was reduced from 75 stamina to 50 in the latest build).

So seems no STA enchant of us....yet.

Isn't Agility better anyway?

I mean, I love Stam and all that, but it's basically just a buffer of how long it takes before you die, no? As a general rule, I thought mitigation had priority. I dunno how much Dodge is granted by 120 Agility, but it's gotta be decent, not to mention the crit for added rage generation (though I suppose that's not much of an issue against bosses).

Ya, I had all ready seen that and the lowering further reinforced my decision to not get the stam weapon chant.

The huge +75 might have been worth it as I could have shifted some gems around for more agility and stuff and not gotten most of my stam socket bonuses. But +50 is just kind of meh.

Might use it for a high stam set but that is more of a situational enchant for when I get a variety of weapons. For a main tanking weapon enchant I don't really like it and will stick with the goose.

I could see the other tanking classes and maybe warlocks eating that chant up still.

Titanguard Removed.

Had this enchant gone live it would have become THE enchant for nearly all tanks. It would not have been an interesting choice. We would have had to keep introducing higher tiers of the same enchant, or else players would just keep using this version for perpetuity. We put Stamina already on many items. We don't think your weapon needs one as well. I received messages from several tanks for very prominent guilds asking us to please not go forward with this enchant. They understood why it was bad for the game.

Death knights have access to superior enchants in part because they do not have a shield or ranged weapon slot and the stats provided by those items.

Just posted by my favorite crustacean. Personally, I still like the AGI enchant. I thinks it's that faint green glow I like..
..I still have yet to play with goose on a weapon...
...I wonder what new stuff they will come out with...

I kept clicking the green arrow, but it would only allow me to rate you up once. One of the greater regrets in my life.

I can see how goose would probably be overall better for kitty DPS, but as a bear, does it proc frequently enough to make it worth losing out on the steady dodge and AC you'd get from constant +35 AGI?

Yes. It procs a lot. Do it get the goose.

Berserking is better for a pure cat any way.

No doubt Berserk is better for pure dps, but one caveat that's been noted on EJ forums is that you better have a separate tanking weapon with goose or agi if your raid is going to expect you to pick up impromptu off-tanking duty. -25% to armor is no joke.

I would suggest a macro to use when switching to bear when using that chant or simply automating the switch with Outfitter or whatever you are using.

You are a druid so I feel I can assume you use such an addon.

Bear uptime with mongoose is actually significantly higher than cat uptime. Based on 1 proc per minute a 1 sec attack speed (kitty) gives a 1/60 chance per attack to proc. Bears 2.5 sec attack speed gives you a 1/24 chance to proc.

A bear will have the regular 24 attacks (white/maul) plus an attack every 1.5 secs (mangle/lacerate/swipe) which is a total of 64 attacks a minute (no haste), giving you 2.66 procs per minute on average.

A kitty will have the 60 white attacks plus about 15 yellow attacks (10 energy/sec for 60 sec, very rough average 40 energy/attack). Throw in an OOC proc or two and you have maybe 77 attacks per minute giving you 1.28 procs per minute on average.

Thats very rough napkin maths but i'm pretty sure I included most of the important stuff. Haste will improve the proc/minute in both forms nicely, but not enough to make haste a very valuable stat for us.
