Yet another spec question.Follow

#1 Dec 18 2008 at 12:10 AM Rating: Decent
Just hit 75 of my shaman and started to think about what I would like to do at 80. Resto seems like what interests me (elemental atm) and I'm leaning on pvp/arena. I have a few questions for some of you with experience there already, is healing grace worth it for the dispel resist on earth shield? There is of course the question that comes up a lot, what do you think of my spec? If you were doing 2v2 what setup would you try and use? Thanks in advance.

U asked some of the same questions as i did maybe a week ago :P
so here's my topic on allakhazam:

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/class.html?wclass=8;mid=1228390415311569414;num=2;page=1

Personally after some research i find 5 points in nature's gaurdian a waste and the classes where u really benefit from this talent rogues and other fast hitting classes. (since its on a 8 sec cooldown)

I think 3 or 4 points are enough since there are so many desireable talents in the resto en enhance tree for a resto pvp spec.

Personally i find:

http://www.arenajunkies.com/

a good site for pvp u should check it. It has decent macro's and decent overal info on every form of arena.

Hope i helped since im a rookie also :P

Haven't made it to 80 yet, but arena'ed alot at 70 (mainly 2v2 as resto).
I would recommend looking at:

Dispel resistance is definitely something you want to max. If they have to blow an extra GCD (or 2) to dispel your shield it gives you a definite edge.

For 2v2 Insta-wolf didn't seem that great to me.
Instead of Insta-wolf and Imp Shields I went extra crit and Sham Focus - we get alot of utility out of crits, plus the 45% less mana on shocks is awesome (I tend to play offensively even as resto).

Imp Healing wave wasn't worth the points to me as I usually spammed LHW. HW was a NS>HW combo usually.

I'm a big fan of Nature's Guardian. It has saved my butt many times.

If you plan on hitting BGs a bit I would take Insta Wolf at the cost of 2 pts in Thundering Strikes.

I really can't wait to hit 80 and go, but from what I hear its pretty rough going for healers in arena right now. I recommend getting as much crafted PVP gear as possible to have some resilience. And I would also get into Wintergrasp everytime it pops so you can hit the raid boss after you win and get some nice PVP epics.

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies so far. Might be just me but I think instant wolf seems like a nice boost to survival (being able to move more) but it could just be something I got used to while playing my resto druid in arena at 70. Thanks for the arena website link I'll check it out. The real reason I ask about spec is because there are so many nice talents in the trees I just cant decide haha.

Edit
After looking at the arena website I see that none of there builds take mana tide and restorative totems. I came up with this after looking at some of there specs.

Insta-wolf is great for BGs.

But for Resto in 2v2 it is highly situational. I mainly used it to escape melee (i.e. trinket>EB totem>Poison cleanse>Wolf>run like hell), but with all the new talents given to melee dps to close with you it might not work too hot anymore.

On your build I would really look at whether Imp Healing Wave is better than Totemic Focus. You will be slinging totems like they are going out of style (esp. Grounding) and the mana will add up quick. In 2v2 LHW and Riptide will likely be your mainstay for healing as you just won't have time for HW.

Cheers!

Thanks for the response again, I see what you mean with healing wave and its slow cast time compared to lhw. The thing about ghost wolf, I just like it haha and I think I'll keep it until I can test it out. Here's the build without imp healing wave http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=hZ0gg0oZVMxuhxsEzbIRt
