The Official Mage WWS Report Thread!Follow

#1 Dec 17 2008 at 5:42 AM Rating: Excellent
With all of the complaints about people lagging behind in dps and not doing this and that I decided to throw out the option of people posting a WWS (WoW Web Stats) or World of Logs [my current preference] Report to let us see and critique what could be going wrong (bad spec, bad gear, bad rotation, bad group makeup, gear disparity between people, etc).

So here is your chance to show what you (and your guild) are made of.

If possible please post the following info:

Your: Name, Guild Name, link to armory, and of course your link to the WWS/WOL report (it is really easy to setup for those that are uninitiated to it).

I will consider looking at 10man and 25man parses, 5mans are useless for this so don't bother complaining about them (news flash: dps in normal/heroic 5-mans does not matter, as I have stated in several other threads).

Example:

[link logs]
Name: Anobix
Guild: Caustic
Website: http://www.sscaustic.com
Armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Stormscale&n=Anobix

This is an interesting idea. Could be interesting to see common mistakes.

I am running Sartharion and Arachnid Quarter 25 mans tonight. I might remember to log them. I might remember to upload the log to WWS. I might even remember to post said WWS.

But I make no promises, though I'll find a way somehow if I manage to end up #1. Time travel may even be an option. Smiley: grin

Sounds good. I'm just tired of people complaining that they are doing subpar dps in groups/raids and then not being able to show anything to see why they are doing badly. It's like walking into traffic over and over then ******** about being clipped by cars. When 2.5kdps should be the low-end (for a single-target dps fight) and people saying that they are doing 1.5k or something that I was doing in BT/Sunwell makes me think there is something wrong.

Odds are good a lot of the time it's related to group makeup, especially in 10 mans.

Also, remember, we don't have several things that used to be present in TBC, such as chain drums, chain chugged destro pots, unlimited usage of flame caps(gotta actually mana gem now). Combine that with the fact that my crit is still a little lower than it was at 70 and you're talking about some possibility of DPS loss.

Brb. Gotta go ding Sons of Hodir exalted.

pre-grats on that. I still haven't started that rep-grind yet. And once you get 2pc-T7 mana gem > flamecap.

Naturally. But the robe is a downgrade for me, so I'm waiting to get the gloves until I can get another piece. Preferably helm.

While I kinda like the look of the helm, I'm waiting on Gothik's cowl to drop and nabbing that one. I've got my other 4 pieces.

Nice. Besides, you don't want to stack all 5 pieces since 2/5 have a ton of spirit and you should only be wearing the other 3 + 1 spirit one.

I'm using my engineer goggles until T8. If I do get the helm, which is likely, it'll be to just have the complete set. My guild is loot council and pretty drama-free when it comes to loot.

I'm doing naxx10 w/ a fun pug (well, I guess I'm the pug, they're all buddies, 2 diff guilds, and we downed Saph and KT last week, so) so I will try to figure out the WWS stuff before then. I'm gonna try it as frost due to some mana issues we had last nite (up to 4h), so I know my dps will suffer (and they all know that I'll be ready to run respec if needed). Anyway, I reckon that'll be a screwed up report, but I'm interested to see it. Hoping my guild will do naxx25 this week too, so I can post that (will be spec'd ffb, of course). If not, maybe I'll pug it w/ the aforementioned guys, if we can find enough people. I know that I have been way behind others, especially another mage I was running with (5k, insane!@), but my gear's a lil better, so I'm curious.

I really can't wait till the dual-spec thing, because I really did well as frost in 5mans last nite (I know, it doesn't count, but it was fun, dammit).

Anyway, blah blah blah, I'll post the one where I'm spec'd ffb. :)

Well, I could have done a little higher, but overall, not something I'm unhappy with.

Not too shabby at all. What happened with the Noth parse, weird that it split it up like that.

Yeah, I thought that was kinda funny too. My guild leader used another website and his came out without the split. I just posted mine because we're a little more used to reading WWS. Well, that, and the English on this other site is embarassingly bad.

From checking your patchwerk it seems:

Overall your lower dps seems to be pretty much from gear (and rng with crits) once you get a few more pieces of t7 (for the 4pc) and continue to improve your crit and spelldmg you will be in fine shape. I didn't see any problems with how fast you were casting your frostfire bolts, although on loatheb about 12 pyroblasts were skipped during hot streak! procs but that is going to happen due to the shear number of crits. You had excellent LB uptime on patch (80%) and only 60% on loatheb, would have increased your dps by a little bit.

I've found that on Loatheb unless it's time to run to a spore, full on FFB spam(I did keep scorch up for the 100% crit chance) cuts back on ignite munching and actually increased my DPS vs trying an "optimal rotation". Granted, it was a single test of each method, so I may have just borked the other, but it was still an interesting result.

Just stopped by and tossed in a report from our OS 10 man with 2 dragons up and a Malygos 10 man after it. My mage is still in the slow process of leveling right now as I'm spending time on my resto sham still (the damn val head peice is eluding me).

I wasn't in this raid but just snatched it from our guild site. As you can see, mages aren't have that much of a issue as far as I can tell, Yalla isn't even the best geared DPS in this raid.

http://wowwebstats.com/aj5btpqjjydu5

This is last weeks full naxx 25 run. Has to extend our normal 4 hour raid time by 45 min or so to finish up but overall another strong run for Yalla.

http://wowwebstats.com/5oj4n41uvtfe3

This was finishing up this weeks naxx, OS with 2 dragons up, and Malygos 25 man from this week. 2 Mages in this run but Yalla drops down with higher geared people in the raid.

Pretty sure Yalla has almost entirely best in-slot items. How can his gear get much better? Granted his hit rating is quite low, even for FFB.
#22 Jan 05 2009 at 10:15 AM Rating: Decent
Ya, just looked at his armory. He picked up alot of gear last week that I didn't pick up on. Blew badges for some T7.5 and got the wep off KT. So now he is one of our top geared peeps. Sorry about that.

Okay, here's this. I didn't remember to turn it on until Loetheb and we quit after that because of skewl kids. Anyway, I had been drinking, because the raid was called off at 7, but then they decided to raid at 9, since people were getting on, plus it's a new guild and we were @#%^ing around a lot and just being generally goofy and having a good time one-shotting things even though we were being kind of sloppy. So my dps isn't near what it should be for my gear, but it's still better than it's been in the past, since I'm getting used to the ffb spec. Any critique/advice is appreciated. :)

Thanks :)

Hopefully I'll do better tonite.
