Glyph of RevengeFollow

I have Glyph of Revenge on my prot warrior, with the following macro:
/cast Revenge(rank 8)
/cast Heroic Strike(rank 13)
I activate the macro whenever revenge is ready. But about 1/3 of the time it leaves a dangling free heroic strike.

I've tried many variations on the macro to no avail. For a while I thought the heroic strike was failing because I didn't have enough rage even though it's "free". But since then I've seen it fail on a full rage bar.

Is it possible for the heroic strike to happen before the glyph procs? This would explain why the free heroic strike is not consumed. If so, how might I tweak the macro to delay the heroic strike until the free strike is available? Keeping in mind I'm looking for a one-click solution. A two-click solution would defeat the purpose of having a macro.

Is there a "right way" to create such a macro such that it consistently consumes the free heroic strike?

I don't know why it isn't working, but it seems like you shouldn't macro it. You should have heroic strike on a separate hotkey anyways, so you can pump out extra threat if rage permits.

If you have a swing timer, take a note of when u press revenge.

you are msot likely hittting the macro jsut as you swing, so the HS goes through before the glyph is registered.

wait till you are on a boss and way ahead on threat and wait till after u swing to hit your macro to see if this is the case, do it a few times to see if the macro is shot or if its jsut timing.

I don't know how long you are waiting but, the free heroic strike debuff won't be consumed immediately, if that's what you are looking for the macro to do. It still consumes the next white attack so it won't be instaneous.

I do have it on a separate hotkey for that purpose. But early in a fight, or when solo questing, surplus rage is unavailable.

It should be macro'd for the same reason as anything else: to streamline the interface by consolidating redundant features. I want to do Heroic Strike EVERY TIME I do Revenge.

Understood. What I am seeing is that in some cases the free strike is never consumed. It hangs out there for maybe another 8 seconds until it times out, though I am hitting away with white attacks.

As I have HS on my toolbar, I can tell when it's been enabled by the macro. And yes, sometimes it takes a couple seconds before the free strike is consumed, during which time I can see that HS is enabled for my next autoattack.

I don't have a swing timer, but I'm pretty sure it's happening the way you describe. So the question is: how might a macro test for the availability of free HS? And pause until the free HS is available?

I don't know a good way to make a macro test for a free HS, but the Event Alert or MikScrollingBattleText addons might help you monitor it (and S&B procs). I know with MSBT you could even configure it to play a sound when you're glyph of revenge procs.

Some addons that are for buffs (xperl for instance) do not function 100%... And this can lead to some confusion. I found a similar problem with other buff/debuffs occuring. And when I disabled the addon responsible for the buff bar I fixed it. Sometimes, your HS misses and you still do not lose the buff either, on other occasions I have had the buff consumed with no rage cost reduction...

I find it rather awkward and difficult to use properly, but it was useful while leveling. As for TPS and mitigation, I prefer glyph of devastate and glyph of blocking. Putting glyph of revenge on only feels like it functions well when you apply glyph of HS as well.

I do the same thing, but what you want to do is reset back to revenge if you don't press HS.

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=6 Revenge, Heroic Strike

This lets you double tap Revenge when it lights up to get them both off. The HS will cost rage if your revenge misses. If you wait 6 seconds (CD on revenge, I don't remember how long glyph of revenge takes to timeout), then it resets back to revenge.
