So... I've been trying out slight variations of my old raid UI and here's a pic of a run where I turned just about everything on.

Note that it's a raiding UI, so there's more there than I would ever have up for soloing or 5-toons. Actually, I don't usually have half that stuff for 10-toon stuff either.

I use almost exactly the same for my DK but have runes instead of combo points of course.

Cheers.

Pretty simple. XP bar and consumables bar properly hidden now, other main cooldowns bar still shown for OmniCC.

Stock buffs/debuffs. DoTimer above my runes to watch my debuffs on my target.

Adding mine to the mix. I haven't had anytime to hit photoshop and work on a new skin (that's a lie, the drug has kept me logged in). So its a bit rough atm. In the picture above the recount is where omen appears, and to the left of my unit frame my rune meter appears. Question to Theo, what the heck is that rune addon? I want it badly. I am using Runemaster atm and hate it. I did have rune watch for awhile, but it is broken atm.

@Mongoose, i use stock UI atm, got used to it on my paladin, and went to DK with stock. Did try a custom UI for my DK i spent a total of about 6-8 hours on, then decided i liked the stock better. My rogue however requires a custom UI, otherwise i cant look at the screen.

@Theo, how the hell do you play with only like 10 button? do you just not use the rest of your abilities? are they hidden? key bound hidden? modifier macros? or just simply dont use the other toys u get?

The only reason I have them shown is for my cooldowns. I wouldn't need them shown otherwise, and I don't need any shown so I can remember what buttons do what.

Actually its the base skin and I was too tired to start adding effects and work on trimming it back. Reality is I have a 19" 4:3 ratio monitor, I really need to save up and get a widescreen to expand my ui.

Er, i use the basic ui, with a couple of laziness addons and a messy edge of the minimap basicly :P
interface

i tried some stuff like hittimers and xperl, but it only annoys me in the end lol

I was about to tell Theo he's been playing too much since he doesn't need the buttons shown, but then I realized I've turned off the hotkey text on my buttons. Smiley: grin

Pfft if you can't remember your keybinds, there's something wrong with your brain.

Bumping this thread as I've played with my UI a bit. Made it cleaner, and IMO better. I honestly hate the look of Xperl, but I used it since it was the most reliable unit frame addon.

Well, not anymore.

Here are some screenshots.

Configuration shot with proximo:

OOC:

In combat:

Underneath Proximo is my focus target. In the configuration shot, you can see that I have my focus target's debuffs shown, mainly because I have focus DG/Strangulate/Mind Freeze macros.

DoTimer only shows debuffs on my current target and my focus. I purposely have it set up that way so I don't spam my screen.

Opposite my focus frame is my pet frame and my pet's buffs. This is the easy way for me to keep track of HoW.

In the configuration shot, you can see that I have two sets of buffs on either side of the screen. These are my target's buffs/debuffs. The reason that I continue to use DoTimer after doing this is because the debuff group shows literally EVERY debuff on my target. It gets a little confusing with multiple DKs. Smiley: wink

Still using MagicRunes over the UnderHood (unitframe addon) runes, because they're ugly as sin.

Oh, and my focus castbar is in the middle of the screen for easy Mind Freeze/DG/Strangulates.

My own cast bar is beneath the swing timer you can see below my health bar in the combat shot. Yes, it's between my RP bar and my health bar.

That should be it. This will probably be the final version before release, though I think I'll add party health/mana bars at some point (not that I need them).

My UI

Still working on it. I have some alignment issues on some of my alts but overall I'm pretty happy.

You can turn off the Skinner error messages in the menu, FYI. Smiley: tongue

i dont see how people could allow so much stuff on their screens, i like theo's UI's because there always clean and offer alot of real estate. some peoples are ok, but others are just hideous.

Muchas Gracias :)

Thought there was an option for that but it's been awhile since I used Skinner.

About addons and interface, i like my interface the way it is, but id really want a nice and clear message when Killing machine is up, to many times i've wasted icy chill on a howling blast with killing machine up.

Anyone knows an addon that can do this?

Or maybe you have 12 characters with different layouts. Smiley: um

This is mine for now. Still tweaking and such. I still have my buttons shown because they keep getting moved around and such as I level. Whenever I get to 80 I will put the main stuff on hidden bars since they are keybound and only show consumables or stuff that isn't worth keybinding.

Still working on some refinements, but my current one works pretty well for me. Below are pics of the solo/instance version. The stuff in the lower right corner should be hidden except when I occasionally want to bring it up. But honestly it doesn't bother me enough to figure out an efficient way to do that.. not yet at least.

In Combat

Out of Combat

Also, I have to fall in the middle of the "need to see keybinds" conversation. For the most part, even with a couple of active toons, I don't need to look at the buttons to know which key does which. It's all the "occasional" abilities that it's nice to have a visual for. I keep core abilities (in macros) to the same 3 keys for each toon for consistency. Like, Blood Strike/Obliterate are the same key that I have Mutilate/Envenom on my rogue and Corruption/Haunt on my lock... etc...

Cheers!

edit: took a video of the interface in action. Dunno if it helps, but /shrug.

I need some help with action bar configuration. Currently I'm using the default UI, but I think one of the action bar replacements would work better. I need some ideas on how to group abilities. I was thinking it would be easier to group them by runes, but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

I use Dominos as a bar mod but when I first went to a non-standard UI it was just experimentation really. Download some add-ons and try out different layouts and whatnot. Your UI depends entirely on how you play and interact with the game. So there's really no "best" way to do it except individually.

Theo, are you a DpS or a Tank?

Do you use any threat meter either way?

I couldn't really see your SSs well.

I play PvP. You honestly shouldn't need a threat meter with the new in-game threat warnings (i.e. "high threat!"), though.

You can click on my screenshots for larger views, btw.
