Hit Cap vs Exp vs APFollow

EJ has been down for some time now (at least for me), maybe you all can clarify something for me.

I read the poison hit cap is 315, but the white cap is like 700+. Being Mutilate, my hit is at 345 right now, 11 expertise, and I'm 5/5 in precision talent. AP unbuffed is 2516. I'm wearing a green cloak b/c it has 31 hit on it, but can switch that for an extra .5% crit and 47 AP. My question - is there a happy medium? Theres a set of boots with Argent Crusade rep that have 66 hit on it, but it'll take a while before I can snag them. It's just hard to find good gear with +hit...Is it worth the extra hit on my cloak to sacrifice the extra Agi and AP on the other?

I would think so, since changing out the cloak would put you just under the poison cap.

For Mutilate the 315 poison cap is vital, anything after is icing. Combat relies more on white damage making Hit more valuable.

Basically what I do as Mutilate is value Hit highly until above the poison cap then I treat it like haste or ArP: Nice to have on a new piece, not vital. When I'm Combat I stack it until I'm nearing about half the 755 white cap, 375-400ish. But that's just a personal rule-of-thumb.

Stat APEP weights for Mutilate are currently:
AP 1
Hit 2.2 (below poison cap, 1.8 after)
Agi 2
Exp 1.9
Crit 1.6
Haste 1.4
ArP 1

Stat APEP weights for Combat:
AP 1
Agi 2
Hit 1.8 (below poison cap, 1.6 after)
Exp 1.6
Crit 1.5
Haste 1.4
ArP 1.2

Source

Hope that helps!

Beautiful, thank you for your insight. I've got a stat-stick gun I can use to put my hit to 325 or so, and keep my new cloak, and ditch the greenie. Now I need to find something to add a little +hit so I can replace my old cenarion 34ap 16hit head slot with the ebon blade 50ap 20crit.

Thanks!

Also, what about the poison hit cap for PvP? And am I right that ~173 is the new yellow hit cap? Since 175 put me just over +5% hit chance without Precision.

If you're Exp isn't capped before you hit poison cap, then make sure you cap it after. It's nice not to have to worry about it once you hit 6.25% expertise. I mean honestly, a stat you don't need to touch anymore unless it drops, fantastic.

164 is 5% hit.

32.79 hit is 1%.

Cheers Theo, now I know what to aim at. I'm nearly at the exp cap already, it seems =O

Expertise cap is still 27 (6.5%) in PvE; in PvP, everyone has different amounts of dodge, so it's harder to quantify.

Expertise rating per expertise is 32.79, so you need a whopping 214 rating to get to 27 expertise.

Aye, that's the funny thing... I'm on 195 hit rating and 201 expertise. Seeing as I PvP anyway I'd prefer some more crit (I'm down to 17% =/), but I guess that'll come with the new PvP gear. Just not sure if I can keep the PvP hit cap in that gear...

Yes, that's the thing that's pissed me off the most about PvP gear. We'll almost have to socket hit gems and get Icewalker/Precision for glove/boot enchants.
