Spirit Tap gives you a 100% chance to gain a 100% bonus to your Spirit after killing a target that yields experience or honor. Does this include targets killed while healing only in a group?
I pretty much only do instances with my 70 Priest (holy now but considering Disc).
This talent would be worth a few talent points if I got the bonus everytime someone in my group killed a target.

I don't know if it has changed, but as far as I know, no that isn't how it works. You have to land the killing blow on the mob to get spirit tap to activate.

However, it does require you to get the killing blow, which will rarely happen if the priest is in a group as healer unless the priest has impeccable timing.

I took spirit tap (because i still have icecrown and storm peaks to finish) and the rest of the talents for healing (med+IF/guardian spirit). I found that i get spirit tap pretty often in the spider wing in naxx. Lots of AoE at trash, the adds at bosses. I usually can get one kill there. Holy Nova and SW:D ftw.
Maybe in heroics that will not help too much, but it's really a must have if you still do normal quests. (Dailies don't require too much killing).

The other part of Spirit Tap is Improved Spirit Tap. All that requires is a Mind Blast or Shadow Word: Death crit. While healing, this won't happen too terribly often, but there's always the chance to toss one out. It's only a 10% boost to Spirit and 20% if Spirit-based regen, but it's better than nothing. Couple that with Bangles of Many Blessings (still have mine) and Meditation and you're (conceivably) looking at 70% of mana regen while casting. :)
And if you're really bored, Inner Focus + Mind Blast for that extra juicy bonus to crit chance.
