Question regarding HealingFollow

Morning all,

I'll be the first to admit I've not done an exhaustive search of this site, merely a quick skim through, so if the answers I seek are posted elsewhere I can only apologise in advance.

I am, primarily, tank specced. I find it fun, entertaining and challenging. However, more recently I have been tempted to...heal. This worries me more than a smidge- I'm generally the healee, not the healer. I've not run any instances as yet, but I have healed for various group quests with no issues. I realise this is in no way a benchmark for instance healing, more a dipping my toe in the water.

My main question is this; The only +spell plate and rings I have is from WoTLK quest rewards. This gives me approximately +975 SP. Now from what I know of +heals for KZ, this was considered borderline acceptable for rolling as 2nd string healer. With the SP I have, along with a full respec, am I going to be in any sort of shape to heal normal 5-man Wrath content ( Lvl appropriate, obviously). I do plan on staying primarily tankboy, but we seem to have lost a boat load of healers from our guild ( and mysteriously we now have half a dozen new DK's on strength). I have no aspirations of being one of the main Raid Healers, but being able to switch out gear and spec for 5 man content would be a good thing.

If anyone can shed any light, or throw some pointers my way, either gear related or skill 'must-haves' it would be appreciated.

Apologies for the length of my post- I've been in work 4 hours already, and tend to waffle when tired :)

Regards,

Snorri

If you have a full set put together, yea -- with a respec you should be able to handle NORMAL content.

You'll want to improve a smidge to get into heroics and a little more to get REALLY into heroics. One thing I like about tanking is that by the time I even consider running a different spec for an instance I have enough rep with EVERYONE to fill my offspec set with rep epics + blues, basic craftables, and enchants with hardly any cost.

Without taking any quest rewards for healing gear, buying up a starter set/having it made, or rolling on drops I now have a Holy set that (if I respecced) would put me in comfortable middle-heroic healing territory. Same for Ret.. Add to that the fact that Heroic badges are pretty much useless to me now and there's another avenue for off-spec epics. My Ret set has the 2 piece Tier 7 bonus on it from the badge rewards -- and I havn't specced Ret since levelling pre-BC.

The point? Use the resources available to you that you've already ground out by tanking to your advantage.

I think the 1000 mark was for +healing for Kara. Spellpower is more potent.

Take a look in this thread to get some #'s (YJMark, 2nd post).
