Hey guys and gals,

I have been fooling around with DK for a bit and have been curious how some of you guys have found Shaman to date in not only the PvE environment, but in dungeon running/Raiding. I have been an Enh shaman for a while and have enjoyed the sheer amount of DPS I was able to output once upon a time, but I have been wondering how you guys have found your shamans in your groups, and in relation to others throwing out the damage like DK's and Wars and such. How have the damage that Enh and/or Elem shamans scaled when you get to 80? Is it all good or have you guys noticed that your damage output has not raised in relation to your level?

All around I have missed my shaman I think and although I like my DK, I seem to be a shaman at heart. I am interested in not only helping a party out, but I am interested in being able to keep up the DPS role for my shaman as I used to in the past. Any input into your experiences at 80 and on your way will help a lot guys.

Cheers

Level to 80, go resto. With the nerfs on WG and CoH we'll be even more in demand. The only down side I'm having is the fact that any upgrades from here on out are in raids. Atleast I have time to level my mage now.

I don't have any damage meters, but they can be misleading. DK's seem to put out insane dps though. A DK topped the charts last night when we ran that dragonflight boss under wyrmrest temple on normal. But he's a good player. Ret pally was at bottom lol. His talents were messed up though I heard. So I'd def. take enh over ret pally any day. Though I hear ret got a huge boost.

I ran with one last night in heroic uk. I didn't see the meters there. But like I said, alot is based on skill. The totem buffs are huge. And assuming you use them (i'm sure you do) to help out the party, you'll definately be needed. Ya the DK's can do that str/agility buff too, but you can provide other buffs they cannot. And if you don't have a resto shammy running with you the poison cleansing can be very useful in some instances. In a pinch, you can heal. Though if the healer dies, it's usually a wipe. But if they die when the boss is 25% you might be able to heal the mt just enough to finish the job. I'm talking 5 mans of course, not raiding lol

Multiple shaman aren't quite as needed as they used to be due to totems increasing to raid size. But then again, why would you need multiple dk's?

I'd keep shaman as your main and just play the dk for alt. fun.

Play whichever you enjoy. However, if you wanted to be assured of a slot in raids and 5-mans come 80, level that shaman and go resto. Melee dps and tanks are now a dime a dozen thanks to everyone and his cousin rolling a DK. What is desperately needed are healers. They're the new tanks.

And ironically, tanks used to be the new healers.

We've come full circle again.

Having said that a lot of pallies have respecced Ret and most DK's are refusing to tank too (getting into a group with my priest and 4 plate wearers and being told no-one can tank just makes me so happy). Tanks are still in demand. Hopefully our next Hero class will be a healer though.
