Topic speaks for itself. I am mostly wanting feedback on 2v2 because I don't think they would be al that great in 3v3 or above. I have been thinking that with the right class for a healer that a Prot warrior and healer could be quite a force.

It might be a bit too early to say. Since there isn't really any resilience in play arenas can be seriously messed up. I'm literally 3-shotting clothies and leather wearers as a rogue right now, up to the point where nothing but a paladin bubble can prevent a 2v2 from turning into a 2v1 within 20 seconds of the match starting. Resilience might gimp prot DPS to the point where prot becomes useless in the arena again, but it might just work.

At least, that's my (not all too reliable) 2 cents.

It's fairly easy to get a 40% crit with shield slam. Resilience or not. You get a passive 15% bonus and another 5%. Getting 20% crit from gear is really too easy. So, even with resilience your still gonna deal good spike damage. The survivability along side battlefield mobility and controlled stuns and silences, makes for a fairly decent spec.

Without resil in play right now, it is really difficult to say anything. I will say that prot this season will be much better than prot last season. However, so are mostly all the other classes.

I think the biggest thing holding prot back is gonna be rage generation. I find that i am rage starved in pvp for the most part, unless i have 2-3 people on me. Im gonna try running twos with a Dk, as healers are really no longer viable in 2's with all the burst damage/double dps teams. If it sucks, then ill just go arms and join the crowd with double dps. The fact that a prot warrior/boomkin were able to hit 2200 last season after the patch gives me a little hope, but we will have to wait and see.

personaly, i love prot. prot is no longer a joke!
i had a rouge who was one lvl lower then me in 3/5 s2 and then the rest was s3 just go off on me for awhile and i just turned around use shockwave sheild slam and concusion blow and he didnt wanna duel another prot warrior ever again lol

i believe a prot warrior because they can now pretty much stun lock you with shock wave concusion blow and revenge (all can do 3k plus dmg.) will be incredible in 2v2. i was lvl 76 and i hit for a 3k revenge on a ret pally.

i think a balance druid and prot warrior or ele shaman prot warrior or possibly just a ret pally and prot warrior would be unstoppable in 2v2

as arms my self tho at lvl 77 i one shot a lvl 80 rouge with a free exacute soo i dont know. arms still may be the way to go.
(i had just killed a DK and i had 90 rage and a free exacute so i rush over the the rouge and pop the exacute to hit him for around 13k)

-lvl 79 humen warrior

As much as I love prot, (thats the spec I'm gonna be in pvp) the fact of the matter is our damage is still not up there. What makes it "seem" good is that we don't take any damage ourselves. But if we were an arms warrior, doing the damage prot does, we wouldn't last very long. Arms wins because of it's burst, prot wins because it cant be bursted...besides maybe by a mage that we've ignored.

As far as what partner we should have...thats a good question...

I would say boomking over retardin. Why? I don't know, it just feels like a good combination. Probably because having two melee classes just sounds like I'm nerfing my own team. Prot can deal with physical dps extremely well and doesn't have to worry about "saving" his partner nearly as much because it's a bloody druid.

Warbringer and chain stuns and spell locks are all fantastic but casters can still burn through armor when given the chance, and if a rogue is stunning us (more like tickling us so much we are rofling) we're gonna need someone to get in there and pew pew the caster. If our partner is another melee its not good cause casters are pros at getting away from melee while still fighting.

Something not overlooked, but interesting nonetheless; Safegaurd. You may find yourself using it on your bursted companions. As well as Vigilance, providing another (small but still some) mitigation bonus for weaker group members.

I don't know what partner I'm going for this season, but I am considering a few options. DK's look like something I'm willing to have, that ranged pull and some of their more anti caster abilities. They also have good resistance to melee and a wide variety of useful (imho) tricks and burst damage.
