hi all,

i grouped with a rogue the other day and was really impressed so I'm thinking of giving one a go.

i've read up on the different racials, but what I would like to know is, in your opinions which race has the best animations? Which race looks the best while executing anything that moves?

Thanks everyone!

Horde:
male/female undead -> female blood elf -> ... honestly thats it from horde side. I didn't see female orc in action though.

Alliance:
Human, night elf or gnome. But I don't have too much experience with alliance characters (except I kill them often ;p ).

Maybe you should make rogue, level them up to 3-4 lvl to get stealth (I can't remember when you get stealth... anyway 4th level you will get in few minutes) and then decide what animations you like the most. You can also check some warcraft movies.

PS. I love my female undead rogue animation btw. :)

I never pay a terrible amount of attention, but I like the crouch animation of a female Blood Elf in Stealth. When you're completely still they stay really low to the ground on all fours... you know, actually looking sneaky. Kind of like someone crouching down to peek over the edge of a cliff without being spotted, if you can imagine that. Walking around still looks skulky, too. Part of the reason I rolled one because well... Rogue is always in Stealth for the most part.

Best advice. Though Orc are so stubby they look kind of odd doing anything remotely sneaky. I only know that because of the Fel Orc costume you wear when you're grinding Netherwing rep/

Maybe my memory fails but in Netherwing Ledge you get male orc costume, and yes I agree that rogue orc is bad idea, it looks like big piece of wood, bulky and... yeah male orcs sucks. They should be warriors or shamans. But female orc is in my opinion ok.

I can give one more advice: don't roll male blood elf. Their animation is so bad, and when I see blood elf in stealth I don't know if I should cry or laught. Actually male blood elves are kinda gay. ;p

One thing only annoys me, gear on undeads looks bad. I really wish to have nice outfit, not some scraps. :( Outfit looks perfect on humans, but then female humans have too big weapons and daggers looks more like swords to be honest.

Its really funny I saw this thread the same day I was going to re-customize my rogue.

Currently have a human female, that I hate the face/skin color of. So that is a definite change. The problem is whether or not I want to go Male... hmmm I like how slender females are in rogue gear cause it just seems more stealthy and more like "light" armor like rogues are supposed to be in, but there just seems to be more detail and such on armor when worn by a Male, and it's all about aesthetics.

I'd say Trolls are the best looking race for rogues (which is why I picked one). Like Blizz puts it, Trolls be flippin' out mon! They're long-armed athletic flexable jumpers and I simply find that to work very well with the rogue class. All I miss are the salto's the Warcraft 3 Trolls did. Blood Elves could do, they just look a bit too frail for my liking. I couldn't bare playing a Forsaken, but I reckon they look good when others do.

For alliance... Humans are probably best, followed by Gnomes. The Human stealth animation is horrible, but they are the second most athletic race and Night Elves remind me more of Michael Jackson than an actual rogue. Dwarves are just horrible, they look like sausages squashed into a rubber tube. Just as Orcs anyway.

gotta go with the Female BE on this too...
I've got a BE male rogue and he is a little on the frail side...
I remember being in an AV tower with a female BE and both
being in stealth. The female BE looked great and ready to ambush
the allies...
plus the BE females are much nicer to look at... at least for me...

I think male Night Elf rogues look great in stealth - I love it when I stealth-somersault off a ledge to land behind some quest mob who was expecting his lackeys to keep him safe, it really makes the whole thing feel sneaky and rogueish. Unfortunately, you don't really get the same value from Shadowmeld that a non-rogue would, so that's a bit of a waste in terms of racials.

Human rogues in stealth look they woke up with a bursting-full bladder, and are trying to get to the bathroom without waking anyone up, but when I'm running the same damn dailies over and over, I often think I'd take the human rep bonus over the Nelf visuals.

I like my human female pretty well. They look thin enough to be rogues, unlike human males.

But yeah, what's up with the weapon scaling? It looks clownish how big weapons are in the hands of human females. When I was combat swords, you'd think I was using Titan Grip.

I got an orb of the Sin'Dorei from magister's and I use that once in a while and must say that female blood elf has pretty good animations too. I also like their crouch when still and the fact that weapons actually are the correct size. One handed swords look like one handed swords and daggers look like daggers. It even makes fist weapons look better when scaled correctly. They look sharp and agile, not these huge bizarre things.

Ally: I kinda always liked the way dwarf rogues looked with the goggles. The animations aren't great, but something about the look... dunno... just makes sense to me. Female gnomes for all the comedic relief do have nifty animations. In the end I went night elf rogue and really loved her as far as aesthetics goes. Just couldn't stand leveling her past 40 (in Vanilla) sad to say.

Horde: Personally, I really dig my Forsaken rogue's look. He doesn't run/walk as much as he lurches forward, daggers in hand, ready to bleed anything or anyone that gets in his way ;) Trolls look pretty good too. If I were to reroll my rogue as a different Horde race, I'd probably go female troll.
