I just hit 70 and I'm thinking about switching to a mutilate build once i find a decent MH dagger in Northrend. Mainly it's to try out something new, but it's also because i've been kinda disappointed with my toon's performance lately and I'd like to see if i can take down normal quest mobs a little quicker. I'm planning on using this build and using WP/WP. I'm not sure of the usefulness of Deadened Nerves though. From what i've been reading most mobs don't last long after the stun from Cheap Shot, so it seems like it might be more useful to put those points into something like CttC.
My main question though, besides if the build is a solid leveling build, is to clarify how i should be handling basic mob fights and the odd instance run. I understand my build isn't ideal for instances (i plan to respec once i hit 80), but i imagine i'll want to run at least a handful of them by the time I hit 80.
My understanding now of how mutilate builds function is a great deal different than it was before reading more about them. From what I understand, the best way to handle the basic mob fight while questing is to Cheap Shot > Mutilate > Eviscerate > Mutilate. Apparently this rotation (especially with Vigor(+Glyph) should kill the mob before the stun from Cheap Shot ends (or soon after). This is where most of the hesitance to take Deadened Nerves comes from. It also makes me wonder if it would be better to take a build like Therion's in order to pick up Initiative around lv75-78 (with the points in precision mainly as filler till i get to 80). That's assuming precision and deadened nerves aren't as useful (i'm more unsure about the 'uselessness' of precision than the 'usefulness' of deadened nerves).
Instance runs are a little more hazy to me, mainly due to the fact that i rarely run them (i'm hoping to fix that in Northrend, mainly due to my friends making fun of me). Should I treat non-boss mobs the same as normal quest mobs (regardless if they're elite?)? I think i understand that boss mobs should be fought along the lines of Garrote > Mutilate > SnD > Mutilate > Mutilate > Rupture, then refreshing SnD, then going back and forth between Rupture and SnD? Obviously my build lacks HfB and CttC, so I won't be as good as I could be in an instance situation, but I should still be able to do a decent job. I guess i'm a little confused on when to Eviscerate. It'd probably be easier to understand with more experience though. Another question along these lines is if i should still be using Wound/Wound and Eviscerate, or if i should switch one (or both) to Deadly Poison and then use Envenom?
I guess the bottom line is that I have a fairly decent understanding of what i'm supposed to do, but i just want to be sure.
