Ive never really played balance and am completely unfamiliar with wotlk, i havnt played in a while. But instead of lvling my shaman up i decided to level my mid 60s druid. I have decided to roll him as a tank, simply because ive never done it(my shaman had decent sets for all three specs so ive done heals, melee dps, and caster dps). So im doing something new. Ive also decided to level him mostly through instances, so i can get a good handle on tanking before 80. Well ive ran about 10 or 12 instances now as the tank and ive been doing great.

Ive had a couple issues thought. 1....deathknights love their growl(idk actual name) a litte too much, but thats off topic.

The real issue i had today was a moonkin who used typhoon every CD....is it really that good of dps? because the knock back mechanic drives me crazy. It seems like every time i have a group of mobs where i want them he would move em around with his knockback so my swipes werent hitting clean anymore, frequently they wouldnt be in the tight little pack id originally had them in. It just came off as extremely annoying and he would not stop because he "loved the spell" so much. Even after repeated requests....is it that crucial for moonkin dps? or is it something people just love to do because of the cool effect.

You should of kicked him after you asked him not to do it several times.

Or if he drew aggro let him die, repetitively.

Hunter rhinos do something similar it is just as irritating. I ask them to not do it and if they refuse to listen they go bye bye or if I am not lead I go bye bye. You are dealing with the same thing. I recommend the same answer.

Typhoon is a situational spell, certainly not something that's essential for the dps.
What you use if for in an instance is to quickly blow adds that for some reason aggro you or the dps/healer next to you back to the tank.
And it's a lot of fun to cut a path with it in COT:Strat through the zombies in-between fights :-)

A Moonkin using his Typhoon all the time is an idiot and doesn't understand the mechanics of a party.

I have Typhoon, but rarely use it in instances. Only situational like others said. One thing it's very good at, is interrupting the cast of a large heal when a mob is near death. They don't get locked out of the spell/school for 4 secs like other interrupts, but sometimes it's enough to give you and other dpsers enough time to finish the mob without it getting it's heal off.
That said, Boomkins spamming (around the CD) their Typhoons are just plain silly and should be kicked.

Funny thing is if used right Typhoon is a great dps tool vs bosses because they're all knockback immune.
