Hunters In Pvp (IMO)Follow

#1 Dec 10 2008 at 9:50 AM Rating: Sub-Default
Just to help some who need it.

Gear and Stats:
Naturally you know you want to wear the PVP gear bliizard releases, but stat wise here how it goes.
BM Hunters: Agil> Stam> Resil> Crit> Int
MM hunters: Agil> Int> Crit> Resil= Agil> Stam
SV hunters: Idk, PM aethien

Pets: Ferocity or Cunning
I'm not publically advertising against tenacity pets they do have some skills that will help in pvp but they help survive and not kill. I say the best way to survive is to kill everyone who is trying to kill you fast. For this I recommend cats, exotics, and birds. As far as exotics if you spec'd that way, all of them are good for PVP, but the devilsaur's "negative effectless" bite isn't as effective in PVP as per say froststorm breath, lava breath, silithid web thingy, etc.

Traps:
While in raids and PVE you don't use your traps much but they are very important. Three that are very useful.
- Frost Trap: Use this all the time, mainly melee classes. This is your kiting mojo. Kite the mess out of melee classes. If melee classes can't do melee damage to you, then you can't hurt (except DK's).
- Freezing trap/Arrow: This is your second most useful trap, Use this to get a free second on melee classes to heal urself. Or use the arrow to stop a healer.
- Snake Trap: This is your third most useful trap. Use this against classes with little to know aoe ability to buy time. THis is not useful against mages, paladins, NEVER USE AGAINST ELEMENTAL SHAMANS (learned from personal experience). The is pretty useful against priests trying to pop a heal.

Glyphs:
- Glyph of aspect of the Monkey: This is great for fighting melee classes, if you get a dodge off while aspect of the dragonhawk or monkey is active you move 30% faster.

Thats about it... Any other is your personal choice. However pretty much most of the minor glyphs are useless. Possessed strength: If you are controling ur pet in PVP kill urself. Revive Pet: if your pet is dead use heart of the pheonix, if that is on cd, chances are if some1 has 10 seconds to sit there and attack you while ur reviving ur pet you will die, every class can/should be pumping about 1.4k-1.6k dps at least, and every hunter should have 14k-17k hp at least which means in 10 seconds that hunter will be dead.

Aspects:
- No doubt use dragonhawk. If you don't have it use hawk on cast, wild on druids, and monkey on melee.

Strategy:
- Kite like a crack addict. On casters use viper sting. It drains for like 10 or 12 seconds (i forget) then with a 15 sec cd, it allows for constant draining (almost) and if someone (other than a druid) stays oom, then they can't heal or cast on you. Your pet is your life if your BM. So don't let it do anything unless it has mend pet on it.
- If you see a warlock, drop what you are doing and kill him. HUNTERS RAPE LOCKS (except for destro, in which it's an almost even fight). While it may be an easy fight for you, but the lock can sit there and DOT every one and that easy lead can be the downfall of your assualt on a base, or stealing the flag.

If I think of anything else I will post it. I hope this helps someone.

We have a sticky for a reason, and if you so desperately want your own information added, post in it/the thread revamp one. Really, Megatf and all the other great arena guys have always managed to give us good guides and tips and the like, from their experiences of being the top of the hunter class. I'm not saying that you're wrong, but when Megatf posted his spec/glyphs/pet and the rest of his information, its going to be followed by everyone who wants to succeed, and he will probably be writing a full guide like he did for BC again.

Is this arena or BG/world pvp? other then the occasional pally a caster will either blow you up or die long before he goes oom do to sting.
