Healer needs helpFollow

Over the past three months I have leveled my undead priest who was created as a banker a year ago. Just for the lack of anything to do one day I started to play him and knew right away that i was working on what would be my main. Reached 70 a month prior to the expansion and went holy to gain access to the instances ( had several quest rewards I wanted to collect ). I instantly knew that heals is where I would stay from that point on. Got as far as a full clear in Kara. Wotlk came out and it was a race to 80. Things were good to this point. Now at 80 all buffed up I at 1650 on my heals and can not keep the MT alive long enough to get to the first boss. Two or Three wipes and everyone checks out. Normally I start with PoM followed by a renew and I always keep GH running.I also find myself using FH more and more. My problem is that the MT is getting three shotted and done. Last night I was in three different groups all with the same outcomes. I can't seem to get the heals there quick enough. I don't know if my problem is running with pug groups, heals to low, or the wrong spell rotation but I could sure use some help and was wondering if any other healers had experienced these problems. Of course everyone always blames the healer for all wipes reguardless of whos fault is but I need to find a solution to the problem before my name gets out as someone you don't want to invite. All comments will be appreciated. Thank You in advance.

Me too. As you say, Flash Heal is also more useful now than in the past; with the glyph its mana efficiency approaches GH and its quickness is great in the right situation. If you're Holy, instant Flash Heals from SoL procs are win, and Guardian Spirit is a nice panic button. If the tank seems to be taking damage too fast, you can always throw up shield (Disc folks use shield a lot anyway) - it's my understanding that the changes to the way threat works have made this less of a no-no than it once was.

That sounds like the tank's problem to me. My experience has always been that unless I way outgear the instance, I can't make up for an undergeared tank.

Agree with teacake here, you can't make up for an undergeared tank. My experiences healing in Northrend so far have been very variable - mainly depending on the tank's gear, but also the dps's gear - my mana regen is barely up to healing through fights with alot of party damage that seem to go on forever.

If you're struggling, make sure the group is making full use of any available crowd control. Get cooking and use some buff food for that extra boost. Some heroics are easier than others, avoid trickier ones when you don't know whether or not your group can handle it.

As time goes by and people get a full set of Northrend gear this will become less of a problem. The way you describe your healing you're doing nothing wrong. Keep at it and good luck!

I'm in the same boat. With 1600 bonus to my heals, great mana regen, and CoH I am having trouble keeping up tanks, some of which are capped on Defense and pushing 30k HP unbuffed. I'm healing 10/25-man Naxx and 25-man Obsidian Sanctum just fine. But for some of these heroics I have to make room for a back up healer in the group in order to get through the bosses.
Heroics which I am having the most trouble with are Azjol-Nerub (first boss), Gundrak (first boss, yes everyone is in the water), HoL (Last boss), and Oculus (Mage-Lord). Sometimes it appears to be group mechanics DPS isn't high enough, tank isn't capped, people are in the wrong place... Other times it seems to be just me. I have to run Heroic VH just to boost confidence in my healing abilities back up.
Blizzard is making it very hard to gear up for raids since I can't keep a group up in order to get the up-grades. :( *sniffle*

Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna goin one of the top guilds on our server and do a couple runs with them to see how things go. Right now I am in the family guild but need to broaden my herizons if I entend on getting better in my class. I should be able to learn alot by doing this. I'm not above taking the blame for a wipe but would still like to know if it is me or something else in the groups I have been in. I'm guilt of wanting to much to fast as are 90% of the people running heroics right now that have no business anywhere near them. I might need to take a chill pill, decline heroic invites and just start at the beginning. I've learned alot but feel that there is alot more that I need to learn. I will keep you updated on the new move and how it turned out.
