ive been using grasping roots, Insect swarm, Moonfire then starfire till they die is this not right? seems like they go down pretty easy and i dont get hit as much.

Yes this is perfectly fine for pulling while you level. It is very good especially if you've ended up having to use a lot of cloth items since you're armor won't be as high as it would utilizing leather.
The main thing to remember here is the build I put up was purely a speed leveling build and should no way dictate the way you want too or like to play. I merely will give you suggestions, but in this particular case misinformation was presented and it had to be stopped. So keep on pulling mobs the way you do, its nice to not get hit :D

My usual rotation for grinding/questing is Starfire > Moonfire > Roots > Insect Swarm, which leaves three DoTs ticking on the rooted mob while I wind up a Starfire for the next mob. For easier mobs, you might try to leave out Moonfire, which is a real mana hog. For harder mobs, you may have to throw in a Wrath to help finish them off.
Depending on gear and mob level, the first mob often dies from the DoTs just after I have rooted the next one. Rinse. Repeat.
As always, do what works for you and/or what you enjoy.
