Feral Tank Needing HelpFollow

Yes, I know that there are many posts asking about feral tanking gear and stuff like that, but I was hoping for a more specific answer.

I tried heroic UK & heroic VH yesterday, and very nearly gave the 2 T7 healers in each instance heart attacks. So I was just hoping to ask, what are the better upgrades for my gear from non-heroic instances? Crafted stuff are fine, gold is easy anyway.

My armory is
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Thaurissan&n=Bloodthunder . Currently in my tanking gear, which in bear puts me at ~24k armor/hp, ~30% dodge. Could anyone please help suggest any changes? =(

Other that missing a few enchants your gear looks fine. My feral gear is only a bit better and I haven't had any issues in heroics. I'm at 65% physical mitigation, same dodge and about 27k health.

I've been healing lately as a druid so I have to wonder what your healers are doing. Heroic VH has been a fairly boring instance for the normal portals. A few things to note though. The ethereum boss drops 2 AOE orbs that need to be avoided. The skettis boss has 2 adds that need to stay alive (boss goes NUTS if they die before him). The voidwalker will debuff someone and they need to kill the adds (nobody else can see them). The water globe boss disappears often and spawns a bunch of adds that need to be downed.

Unless you're not working the mechanic of a boss I don't see why they can't heal you through. The only time I've had difficulty healing in this specific instance was when we either A) didn't fight a boss right or B) DPS was picking all different targets and pulling hate.

FYI I am not in T7 yet but I am geared well. 1700 healing and 800/330 mp5.

Looking at your gear, it looks all good except your weak in the rings, trinkets, and cloak. Unfortunately most tanking items in those slots are drops so you'll need some luck and diligence to fill those. However there is a great tanking ring availiable from a quest chain that you can do solo. Also there is a crafted tanking cloak that you can pick up made by leatherworking. At the moment it's not ideal because of no extra armor on it. However after the next patch with the changes to armor modifers it's by far the best pre-raid tanking cloak you'll find.

Beyond that you can start making a wish list from heroics to fill any other holes you have in your tanking set.

Also I'd like to touch a little on technique. Try to make a habit of using barkskin at the beginning of every fight since that is usually when your taking the most damage. With such a short cooldown there is really no reason not to use it every pull.

Haha, the dpsers love me because they can't pull anything off, the healers hate me because I took a 15k hit from Ingvar's Dark Smash. =(

And darn, I chose the Jagged Ice Band over the Iceforged Battle Ring, so I can't do that anymore.

Btw, just a question, why do people like to choose the Durable Nerubhide Cloak over the Icestriker Cloak? Isn't more agility better?

Here's my shot at why pulling some #s from the should-really-be-stickied numbers thread.

Armor is identical at 150.

Durable Nerubhide's 49 dodge rating = 1.225% dodge which for tanking is better than the .576% dodge and .288% crit of Ice Striker's 24 agility.

Durable Nerubhide's 41 strength = 82 attack power which is just 18 less than the 100 AP of Ice Striker's.

Durable's Nerbhide's 21 expertise reduces mob's dodge and parry chance by .63% which I'd guess is more valuable than 38 haste since so bear swing speed is so slow and you rely on so many instant attacks to maintain rage. Slight benefit in terms of OoC procs, but negligible.

The version of the Feral Druid Numbers thread here is a bit out of date (a few typos & errors not fixed). I have been maintaining the thread at ElitistJerks and have put the link in my sig when you need to find it in a hurry :)

Actually the primary benifit of expertise is mitigation against "parry thrash". Whenever a boss parrys an attack, their next attack is faster. By capping out on expertise you can minimise this and reduce instances of spkie damage. This is why expertise is a common stat on many tanking items.

I've had the Feral Numbers linked in the sticky, under the feral section. :P
Granted it's to the Alla one, but I'll change it to the EJ's when I get home from work since dos Beast says it's more up to date. ^^

I was of the (quite possibly mistaken) impression that parry hasting was removed from the game, making expertise less of a desired stat for tanks (but still in some ways desirable since threat attacks parries are boo).

I'm reading a lot about a trend away from using Mangle (Maul + Swipe instead). If that were the case, I would think Haste would be desirable since Maul on works off the normal swing timer. More Maul = more threat.

My personal rotation still employs regular use of Mangle with Maul inserted in the rotation just to dump some rage and boost a little threat on a secondary target, but I need to be clear that I haven't been using my druid that much lately and I had barely run a couple of heroics before I set her aside to level my pally. As such, my thinking might not be quite on the mark for best results.
