I'd really like to roll on a server with some high level* friends and I'd love to do it with a DK. I've already got some level 55+ toons, but have held off on the xpac until this becomes a reality.

Has Blizz given any kind of updates on when they might start allowing this to happen?

*Edit - Meant to add REAL LIFE

Method #1:
  1. Roll your DK on one of the level 55+ toons holding server
  2. Transfer wealth from bank toon to DK
  3. PCT DK to new server
  4. ???
  5. Profit

Method #2
  1. Transfer wealth from bank toon to 1 level 55+ toon
  2. PCT said level 55+ toon to new server
  3. Roll new DK on new server
  4. ???
  5. Profit

Note: PCT = Paid Character Transfer

All very excellent suggestions.

Guess I forgot to add in the very important detail. All my level 55+ are Alliance* and said friends are all Horde.

*What can I say? I was a noob when I rolled my Drae hunter :P

Doesn't matter...all my 55+ are horde, and I have a ally DK. Kinda nice to be able to do the other faction without the mind numbing grind to 58.

OK, for a faction change, here's the only method:
1. Ensure level 55+ toon is on a PvE or RP-PvE server
1.a If not, transfer wealth from bank mule to level 55+ toon
1.b PCT level 55+ toon to any PvE server
2. Roll new DK on horde
3. Transfer wealth from bank mule to new DK
4. PCT to new high level server if said server is PvP, if it's PvE you should be all sorted after step 1.b
5. ???
6. Profit
7. (Optional) Get pissed off at the step ???->step profit meme and think of creative insult to point out intellectual limitations of people amused by it.

Basically if your draenei is on a PvP server, it will cost you two transfers if the destination realm is PvP, only one if it is PvE (since you can transfer the level 55+ toon directly to the target realm).

Oh, and if you can, don't hesitate to take advantage of free realm transfers when available, you can move any toons as long as it doesnt' violate the PvP server rule saying that you have to have only one faction per server per account on these.

OK... so now we're getting somewhere. Totally forgot you can mix and match Horde/Ally on PvE servers... DOH!

Anyway... All my toons are on PvE servers. I don't see the bank mule being able to get gold from Ally to Horde, but that's not too big an issue.

But that pretty much gets me where I need to be. Really just boils down to a PCT.... sucks that it's $25. Because you know once I do that, they'll open it up :P

Thanks all for the help and great ideas.

Do what i did, i had a 70 and a 66 on one server so i transfered one to another server and started a DK there as long as it's a PVE/RP server you can have any race.
Now i got two DK's, one horde and one ally.

actually there is a way to transfer gold between factions. Simply put up an item (with the buyout set for the amount you want to transfer) on the neutral AH, have your ally toon buy it out. and there you go.

Unless this has changed in the last couple months, this doesn't work. I tried to do it once and it wouldn't let me bid on my own auctions. You can do it by getting someone to buy the item for you, but that requires you trusting them (or them trusting you) that the gold will actually get where it's going.

Don't forget that the deposits and fees are higher on the neutral auction houses. 15% I think (?) as opposed to 5%.

You're not.

Patch 3.0.8 wrote:
Players may now create death knights on any realm once they reach level 55.

It's currently on the test servers. Probably be about 2-4 weeks or so when it goes live.

Yeah. I just read the patch notes and saw that. YAY!!!! I can definitely wait for that. Give me some time to grind up some gold before I have to start thinking about leveling again.

I'm really going to miss that.
