. . . and that is make it to lvl 70. My 1st lvl 70 lol.

So now I thought I'd come and ask for some help w/ gear.I can't go past lvl 70 yet as I don't have the x-pack and don't plan on getting it until X-mas or shortly after (when I have the cash).

I play PvE, and I need to upgrade. The only lvl 70 gear I have is the purple gear one could get right before WotLK came out (through the Rune Stones from Argent Dawn).

Me.

Any suggestions (even my weapons)? I might as well be better geared for when I can go past 70.
I hope to get help from my guild, if needed.

thanks ^-^

Don't bother spending effort on getting geared, you'll step into northrend and it will all get replaced.

oh? I have been told updates don't come until a few lvls in (75-ish). most of the gear I have now is just from questing through outland (except the Blessed gear).

Congrats!

I agree with Yuppley, Don't worry about trying to upgrade your gear. You probably won't be able to find many people running the stuff that'll get you updates.

If you absolutely need something to do while you wait for your copy of WotLK, you can grind Shattered Sun rep by doing all the dailies on Quel Danas. You'll make lots of money, and there are good 1h weapons you can dual-wield and a really good bow that might last you a few levels.

Just work on making money and getting your enchanting up so you can DE the stuff in Northrend.

That is true if you are already geared out from heroics and raids, but since you just hit 70 then just head up to the new area and continue questing. The gear from quest rewards will replace what you have which should make it more fun for you. I'm no raider at all, but I did work on some nice purple gear and it kind of sucks going through the first few levels without the hope of upgrading anything.

The early Northrend quest stuff is nearly on par with Kara stuff and that's greens vs. purples. The Northrend early blues are on par with Kara purples, BUT, having said that, the 'par' is different. Lots of Stamina and Haste, some hit, nearly no Agility and such. So it's not incredibly Hunter friendly but if you look hard enough you can equip nicely through the early 70's. On the plus side, Hunters don't really have a hard time in Northrend. Very few challenges and if you are BM with a Cat, you rip up targets. Case in point:

I was grinding through a quest on Sunday, sent Morris on to another target while I finished one off and looted it. I just turned to engage the target Morris was on and he was running back... the target was dead. I just stared at the screen for a moment while it soaked in: my pet had just killed a lvl 70 mob before I could even engage it.

I love the fact that my cat can take stuff on by itself, but it does kind of suck when you're trying to be fast with mob killing on the collection quests and you forget to get a shot or sting off on the target your cat just killed which means you can't loot it..... and I don't know if you even get the xp if your pet kills it alone.

Anyway yeah, don't bother putting forth the effort to upgrade gear that's going to get replaced before you even hit 72. Hunters have very little trouble soloing any of the party quests in Northrend with suggested players of 2-3 (except the one in BT where you have to kill like 4 elites for Naxx, called Breaking Through)

Just do dailies in Outlands get some cash and bring up your Enchanting skill so you can DE all the stuff you won't use, because there's actually quite a bit and green's drop from mobs constantly.

I was geared all purple from Kara, a bit from Mag's, and a bit from Gruul's when I stepped into Northrend. Assuming if you get lucky and find groups to gear like this, you'll replace it by lvl 73, 74 at the latest. I think the 5+ lvls Blizz promised for purples to be viable was for the people that had the upper tier stuff from BT and Sunwell...no chance your gonna get that geared by Christmas. So do as others said, max out that chanting and get all the gold you can get, you're gonna need it.

LFG and instance whenever you can. It might be harder since most will probably be in Northrend. You can do some dailies for rep and cash. Work on those and also achievements. You can also keep questing, I doubt you finished all the (solo) quests in Outland. There's the SSO dailies for rep and rewards. Their necklace is pretty nice.

You could even roll an alt until you get wotlk. Just depends on what you want. If you keep questing and dailies for rep you'll make some good gold. Can also get your flyer and epic mounts.

There's still plenty to do at 70. If you get bored then switch it up.

Yeah, that happens a lot.
Especially when you're using AotB for grinding, I just use serpent sting to pull a mob and then send in my pet.
By the time I'm done looting mob nr 1, my pet is through most of the second mob, I send it after mob nr 3 while I'm finishing off mob nr 2.
And that continues on, my pet has Bloodthirsty so it doesn't get hurt, and I mostly follow it and loot the trail of death it leaves behind. :P
