Pet AggroFollow

So I started leveling my 70 hunter in boren tundra. I really haven't played her much since getting my rogue to 80 and up to raiding standards was my main priority. But now that I have some time I figured I'd see the content again (and not rush threw it this time).

My main concern is my pet (Cat) not holding agro. I never had this problem pre-patch. Growl is on, I even let it attack a while to build agro, but just firing auto shot causes me to get agro in about 4-5 shots. I have omen up and I see my threat meter jumping up with each shot. I have to blow Misdirect every other pull and use FD and Intimidate for the others.

Any thoughts on this. I have a BM spec at the moment, but I don't remember spec's really effecting threat before.

Put cower on your pets hotbar, check that it is not also turned on. Leave on the hotbar until blizz decides to fix this issue.

Ok, thanks. I'll check it when I get home from work.

This. Also, check every so often whether Claw and Rake are on autocast. Sometimes when you resummon your pet (say, after you dismount or zone), the autocast stuff gets all fuxxored up. My cat has no problem holding aggro, except when autocast bugs out.

I've been watching all of this a little closer and I can verify several 'bugs' in the pet stuff now:

1. Cower turns on by default on toon load and at various other times (usually after a pet summon/ mount/dismount autosummon). Maybe a mount/dismount macro can resolve this.
2. Agressive can turn itself on as well but I have not found a common thread at all there, seems very intermittant.
3. Rake/Prowl always keep their settings if they are on the pet bar.

So the truly common thread seems to be anything that is not on the pet bar but is useable by the pet is unreliable, save for the pet 'default' agression level which is not dependable.

I say "hear, hear!" to all those calling for a Blizz fix on this. It's extremely annoying and has been lethal to me once.

Yep, my two issues are cower and prowl. Both come on constantly. I have them on the bar now to keep an eye out. Otherwise my pets hold aggro well.

overall I'm irritated that I can't remove half the buttons from the bar.

I don't really need all the follow, attack passive etc, I'd much rather have actual abilities. /sigh

I have found as i have a few hunters that only one seems to have a real problem with the cower/stealth bug , that is so dam weird ?

My main can have any pet with cower/stealth and with them in the pet bar has as yet not seen them turn on when dis-mounting hearthing ect. yet one of my low hunters gets it every single time and that is so dam weird ? why the difference in play i have no idea as both are NE hunters and both have cats ?.

I do find cats have slightly less agro than some other pets though but i have always been able to pull off my pets , i guess i am just a little fast in attacking mobs but a pet that stuns/traps in some way i rarely am able to pull off them.

I think Dominos lets you remove the standard pet buttons, not 100% though, I'll check when I get home.

Thanks for all the tips, that was the problem. I never would have noticed that cower was on, being that it was not on my bar. Its all very buggy for me still. I took prowl off my bar to make room for cower and now it keeps popping on.

Bartenderd dosn't let you take aggressive/def/passive and I think stay off either.

I hope this gets fixed in the next patch. I think I may try a new pet, I've been real out of touch with a lot of these new hunter options.
