I should know better, but I'm a dunce. Here's my cunnundrum:

Muti specced now, using THIS mainhand and THIS offhand, only because the MH has higher top-end dmg, even though it's .1 speed slower.

Now, here's where I'm lost because I'm more failcrafting than theorycrafting. I've got THIS in my bags, fast OH with much lower dmg. Should I be using this for my OH anyway, even though the top end dmg is a lot less?

Also - I'm in quest blues, and am sustaining just under 2000dps on the dummies, hit 2.2k in the 10 man atherion (or whatever his name is, the 5 minutes to do 1 million dmg). Would I be better using THIS with the Rivener as a fist/dagger? And if so, should I spec combat or HAT?

OR - Do I go fist/fist? I've also got THIS sitting in my bank.

My sincerest apologies for not knowing this sh*t. I read through EJ and reread the compendium, just not 100% sure on muti mechanics in this situation and if a fist/dagger is viable with HAT, or if that only combat.

Many thanks, and as always, flames are welcome.

Edit: I can't use links apparently.

Unless the situation has changed recently, and I don't think it has, you actually want fast/fast for mutilate, not slow/slow.

I know that goes against everything we've ever been taught as rogues, but.. That's how it is currently. Extra poison and chances for crits and therefore energy outdo the slightly bigger mutilates.

I'd go Knife Main (unless you need the hit, in which case go with the Shanker), Rivener Off for mutilate. The off-set of the poison damage outweighs the mean average output from slower daggers for Mutilate... by a lot (thanks Bliz!).

With that fist you'd want combat unless you're in a full raid with another HaT rogue and at least one Ret Pally (or laser turkey) for the additional crit buffs (I'm not an expert on HaT, but that seems to be how it works, someone correct me if I'm wrong). HaT's damage isn't reliant on weapon type, but you'd still want a hard-hitting main for the Evis hits.

Regardless... for Combat it's still Highest Average Main-Hand, fastest Off. Which generally means Fist/Dagger or Sword/Sword.

<insert witty psuedo-flame that didn't come to my tired brain when called upon>

Cheers!

Thank you Therion/Hoch,

Put 26 agi on the Rivener vs. 50 AP, figured that'll help a bit too. Already noticed a difference in poison procs, as well as a little boost in DPS while questing in Icecrown. Looking forward to raid buffs (haste totems FTW!)
