Defense Skill: 399/400 lolFollow

Kind of a pointless post other than to share the silliness that is recapping defense skill after I hit 80 yesterday. I logged in with 5.5 bars to go (2 of which were rested) with my defense at 395/395.

Hit 80 in short order, equipped my new shield (mmm shinies) and then went out looking for a spot where I could find lots of densely packed melee mobs to quickly (*snicker*) recap at 400.

I used Blessing of Sanctuary as my timer and found myself in the NW Frenzyheart camp in Sholazar. I grabbed 4 of them, made sure I had Devotion Aura up (as opposed to Ret). 4 was boring.

Grabbed 2 more.

Still kinda dull.

Grabbed 3 more. That was a bit more interesting. They have a spear throw that applies a bleed and you can have several of the bleed debuff on you at once, but with BoSanc I could just spam Holy Light as needed and my mana bar was full again a few seconds later.

I stood there taking my beating for 19 minutes, chatting with guildies in /g and on vent, healing as necessary, and generally amused. Then a Blood Elf DK came along and decided to be "helpful" and killed all of my Frenzyheart guys >.<

19 minutes of sustained beatings got my defense from 395 -> 399.

>.<

2 runs of Halls of Lightning later it's still at 399/400.

I've got a Dalaran Firework in my bags for when I finally hit 400 -.-

If you hit 400/400 between noon and say 5:00 PM will you sing "Afternoon Delight" as you set off your fireworks?

Seriously though, I hope you get to 400/400 soon and can have your celebration. Perhaps go to Icecrown and grind some level 79/80 mobs to try to get that last point a little faster? I have found that fighting mobs below your level (even if they are elite) levels defense more slowly than fighting mobs at or above your level. Since you are 80, the best regular mobs to fight would be the "at your level" ones.

EDIT: Yes, I am old. You have to be pretty old to know that song (or at least listen to oldies radio that plays annoying old songs along with the good ones).

It'll happen, just be patient. It took me two days to cap my unarmed for the achievement, finally happened last night at the beginning of HoL while I was tanking the third pull.

It took me about a full day of constant instancing to get my maces from 399 to 400. Then I got the damned Pinnacle sword and had to raise swords from 350. I didn't even notice when defense rolled over, but I know it took a while. That last point is just plain annoying. I hope I don't have to improves Axes any time soon (1/400, lawl) being as there's viable tanking ones out there now :(

I have not yet found a place where this exists in WotLK, but in TBC -

You know those infernals that drop outside of the main base for the allies (I'm ally).

I took my paladin there, and just let him whack away at them. They agro the dwarves fighting there, so from the perspective of leveling a weapon skill - it's very easy. Just stand there... and auto attack...

I'm not sure if something similar exists in WotLK... And I'm not sure on the skill up mechanics if you could get your skills by going back there.

I use the elites in Icecrown that you're supposed to bomb from the flying machine. They have enough HP to stay up for a good while each and they do so little damage to a Protection Paladin that they can just wail on you 1 by 1. They're also high enough to maximize imping speed.

Nah, not necessarily: maybe just have old parents ;) lol. I grew up listening to oldies, 25 now, and that's still my favorite music to listen to ^^

On topic though, I do think it's rather retarded that the last skill point takes sooooo long to get. I remember leveling I'd never max out my skills, always be one point shy, and then as soon as I'd level, I get the point within a bubble or 2 of XP >.< Trying to get that last point of defense myself now, so I feel for ya ;)
