So I got the 51 point BM talent and decided to go get me some exotic pets. So I headed to Un'goro and tamed an Ironhide Devilsaur because I like that skin more than any of the others. As a big elite dinosaur roaming around a Jurassic era type zone he looks freaking awesome.... then you tame him and he shrinks and looks like a wind up toy with <stomp, stomp> sound effects. I like the DPS he can do but the way he moves when just walking around just gets on my nerves, and my cat can do as much DPS maybe more.

I really hope that Blizzard fixes this little annoyance because I like the allure of having an exotic DPS pet, but at this point I can't stand to keep my dino at my side because he just isn't intimidating or "cool" when he stutter steps everywhere. He actually kind of reminds of the dinosaur from "Toy Story," and.... who wants THAT as a pet?

Me me, I do!

He was my favorite character. :)

Mind if I ask what level you are? It sounds a bit like you just hit 60 and picked up the talent, which would explain why you're so frustrated with the pet. Go fill out some points in MM first, once you have GftT you will find your Devilsaur much more useful and still just as cuddly.

Cat dps > Devilsaur Dps.

And devilsaurs get a huuuuuge hitbox when they use their special, which makes avoiding AoE a horrible pain in the ***.

A little off topic, but are there reports out there now about Exotic pets versus the loss of readiness? Has anyone done testing on this yet?

I saw your post on cat > devilsaur. I was wondering if anyone had crunched some numbers... sorry Aeth, I should have been more specific.

Edit: I had a gaggle of 7th graders flooding the door when I wrote the above post.... :P

Actually I'm 71, Gurzlak is my Hunter's name if you want to check my armory, but my build is a variation on the raid build 50/11 but with an extra point in the beast mastery talent. I like his fighting actions and DPS and all but it's simply the way he moves around while walking, he seriously looks like a wind up toy with big stomp sound effects, stutter stepping everywhere and really just getting on my nerves. I stabled him shortly after I got him and went and got a Tundra Crawler (worm) for my other exotic and actually love it, atm it's not holding aggro much better than my cat, but I haven't checked into the whole cower bug thing yet so we'll see if things get better after I figure that out.

Anyway, this wasn't a serious thread just an observation by me after I got my devilsaur....

Oh, any news about any OTHER benefits to having an exotic pet besides you needing the 51 point talent (which means only BM hunters can get them) to get them and the 4 extra pet points? like increased damage or threat generation or something?

72 Hunter. I'll stick with my cat =). He gets jealous if I hang around other pets. So yeah.
