Starting a hunterFollow

Ive been playing my rogue to level 10 and I still am going to play it. But today I saw a hunter and was curious about the playstyle and such. I was thinking either a dwarf or a draenei, although the draenei starting area looks a bit dreary. Any advice on if I should play a hunter, or anything else would be wonderful, thank you.

The best suggestion you'll get with a question like this is "read the FAQ"

As has been said already read up here to learn is best.

I love Hunters as i am a lazy styled player and i like to relax after work , Hunters are good as you are at range if played right and your pet is the one getting the beating.

There is nothing to stop you once you get past the starting areas from going to any area you like better as long as you remember at level 10 the pet training has to be done in your starting area as no other trainer will help you.

My first and main toon is a hunter and I love it! The play style is easy to learn but difficult to master. Even though I'm almost lvl 80 I still feel that I have much more to learn to be an accomplished hunter. Definitely read the FAQs and the forums to learn more about the class.

As for which race to play, I'd recommend either a dwarf or a night elf on the alliance side because each has a racial ability (guns for dwarves, shadowmeld for NEs) that is helpful for a hunter. I can't speak to best races on the horde side. That being said, play whatever race appeals to you the most in terms of appearance, lore, or starting area. You're potentially going to be spending a lot of time with your new toon, and the racial abilities are not all that important if you can't stand looking at the character you've created.

If you have only played a class to 10 then the faq is going to seem like total gibberish at times. Some important thigns to remember, you play the character, no one else, with that in mind pick a race you like. Also the Alliance is for slacker asshats who cant play a real race.....

If you must be alliance though some important things about raice is:
Drenai have an innate boost to hit rating, and a hot. I cant count the raids or instances where i wish i had a heal to use. The hit rating boost is nice as well.

NE, can vanish, currently helps drop threat, very helpful.

Dwarves have a boost to guns. not too bad.

Pick what you like though.

THAT is slightly offensive... I would only agree to those alliance who play BG's... GG where the heck did strategy go? Gotta love seeing the little kids complaining 2 minutes into a BG and then leaving...

EDIT: PS I think horde has WAY better racials for hunters than Ally

Only thing I hate about running bg's on alliance. No strategic advice what so ever. I ask "Whats the battle plan". They reply "Don't die". I'm like wth. They call me a freak when I start picking off groups of horde. They scream "Don't bring them over here...you'll give us away". Hate it hate it hate it! As to OP.

I play a hunter because I like ranged fighting + I love using a bow. Though rogues are my second favorite class. My hunter is my main. I chose NE not for the racials but the story behind the race and the look. Love elves in just about any game I've ever played that offers the race. They are easy to play. Send pet then wait for growl or when the mobs health is at 90% then fire away. But hard to master.

Want to learn how to use them efficiently, run instances. Some will disagree. I ran just about every instance on my hunter minus 1 or 2. And above all read the sticky. I don't know how many times I catch myself reading it over and over again. Still havn't mastered hunter yet. But with the help of the forums and more experienced hunter I'm learning.

You'll never find another class that levels as fast as hunters except for maybe druid post 50. You'll find out when you solo your first elite at levels no other class can and then it becomes addictive.

Good thing is. Hunters usually wear same gear as a rogue until 40 when they can wear mail. Anything of the monkey when your on azeroth. Then you hit outlands look for of the bandit gear. AP is golden while leveling. =)
